Jim, that's some sweet stuff you got there. Who are your influences?

Thank you for the kinds words, and you too, stratmansteve.

My biggest influences as a soloist are the Steely Dan Pack: Elliot Randall, Walter Becker and most of all Larry Carlton, is who is without a doubt my favorite guitar player of all time.

This solo was played through a 10 inch speaker, on purpose, to get that slightly "boxy" tone. You should hear this amp through a 12". Incredible.

EP and Hammond are both NI plug-ins (Elektrik Piano and B4). Bass is my awesome MIA Precision Deluxe, and the drums are Dave's vintage Gretsch studio kit.

I'll have to go listen to the other links in this thread.

Another reason I don't post so many tunes is that to use many of these sites you have to agree to grant them a non-exclusive right to use the work you posted. This right is usually still in force even after you remove the work from their site.

Always read the agreement before you post!

I use both myspace and soundclick. I have often wondered what sites are the best. I'll have to check out some of the others that were posted.

If you have time please check out my song "Setting Sun" on Soundclick.

I used my Strat, TS9 and Phase 90 direct into my recorder on this one.

How about you guys posting links to your songs to check out.

As of 1/13/08 my song Setting Sun finally reached # 1 in Soundclick's Blues general charts. I know it's not Billboard but I stoked about it all the same. I recorded it with my Fender American Series "brownie" pictured below.

That not just me but I play on all of those except the acoustic and I helped write all of them. It's not very complicated but it is really fun to play live. And our new stuff is more technical just we haven't recorded it.

Congrats, man! That's not easy to do. SoundClick and GarageBand are the two sites where I find the best music. Very competitive.

Hello :D ,
I noticed this thread and thought I would add a few links to places I'm trying out. I'm still a bit confused about digital distribution so read everything in the terms before ya join up. Ok, here goes
Showcaseyourmusic.com
Reverbnation.com
Bandzoogle.com
Ourstage.com

So far, I've used Showcaseyourmusic with good results on tracking whether its a good song, they send a report once a week letting me know the ranking and the songs/pictures can't be copied. You can tell if your song is good if that ranking suddenly jumps I've discovered. So, its best to put them up 1 at a time if your trying to find out if the song has any appeal
I'm new to Reverbnation and so far so good. I really LOVE that site!! 8) Check it out, it has a lot to offer musicians and fans alike.
I'm interested in Bandzoogle but still doing research about putting music up there...
Ourstage is VERY interesting to me, just look at their sponsers under the artist access tab!! Have not joined up yet though but thought I'd share.
Thanks for the posts from the other people in this thread. I've been doing some research and its helpful to me :D
Also, Library of congress is doing some kind of special promo right now dropping that price from $45 to $35 if you register your work online, might wanna scoot over there and get in on that before it closes and save yourself $10.
Well, thats all for now. :D Good luck to everyone. :D
