After this week's GAS and A5S(Amp Stockpiling Syndrome)I sat down and went over my gear acquisitions in the past 14 months.Starting in Nov 08 and ending this week I've acquired 7 guitars 3 amps 3 effects pedals and today capped it off with a Vox VC 12 Footcontroller for my Vox AD120VTH amp.There is still a lot of gear on my wish list and I know I'll be hitting music stores when we go to Miami in May,I'm almost dreading it because of the close proximity to The Guitar Broker and he has some exquisite stuff.I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens and if the little woman doesn't go ballistic.

I feel really stupid but what is GAS?And man you will find alot. all I have to say is look for a awesome vintage (there is a vintage copper mustang try that) or a strat or somethin but in the bikini state there sure would have to be a heck of a lot of guitars.

G.A.S. = Gear Acquisition Syndrome

...with me lately it's been tube-powered anything. I keep on finding pedals at good prices that I just can't pass up, and hoard them needlessly. Does anybody really need a Real Tube, Blue Tube and a Tube King Compressor? Now I have a Klemt Echolette on the way... no guitarist can resist the lure of tube-driven tape echo. If it's in decent enough shape I probably won't mind moving some of the other stuff on... I will just play spaghetti Western-style lonesome chords as the echoes trail out over...erm... the suburbs of Sydney... :oops:

It will never end my friend. Last year I was about to walk into my local Long & McQuade store to buy a Gibson Les Paul. My best friend asked me one question before I went "if you buy this will you be satisfied and not want anything else? If the answer is no then spend that money on a few things instead of one guitar that's going to eat up your budget and still leave you wanting more." Now I have my AM Strat and I'm on the hunt for a nice amp. You will always want more.

I am the same way.I never get gear. But I have a huge plan to buy a bunch of starter packs so when my sister gets out of highschool and moves out I can remodel her pink room to be my music room.

Guitslinger I just have to ask a question because we have similarities with some physical problems that are giving us a herd time to play in your case and almost impossible in mine. But has your GAS been the worst it has ever been since the problems. The last year was the worst year of Gas I ever had by a mile and I could hardly play at all. Everything I bought I would have to bring to my friends shop and have him cut loose on it so I could hear and see the ax in action.

Strangely enough some days are worse than others,Monday and Tuesday of this week my hands were virtually pain free but by the time Wednesday rolled around I could hardly get through half a song without having to stop and stretch my hands.I'm currently getting weekly injections of methotrexate which is supposed to slow the ravages of arthritis but doesn't seem to be cutting it for me.If the methotrexate doesn't work out my rheumatologist is going to put me on Humira or Embril or another med that I forget the name of right now but they cost $17,000 + a year which is quite expensive even if insurance pays 80%.I must admit my GAS is getting worse and I attribute that to hoping that new gear will give me the incentive to play more.I hope your condition improves over time as there's nothing worse for a musician than having their hands incapacitated.

Isn't it frusterating not being able to get through one simple song? I hate that, some days my hands good to go but others i cant even play
