I've always had a thing for Pignose amps, and am mostly likely going to buy one in the next month or so. Is there anyone that owns one that can tell me a good bit about the amp tonally, and overall quality? Thanks so much!

The guy I bought my old Bassman cabinet had one of the originals and it was a little tone beast,I don't know what the new ones are like but if they stayed true to the old specs they should be brutal.

We've got one in the shop, but we don't have a converter. I sure it's an older one. If I can remember I'll see what he wants for it and info.

I've got one and it is a great little tone beast--I think mine is only about ten years old (not sure because I bought it used several years ago).

Thru the unit's little speaker, it sounds good, but if you put it thru a speaker cabinet, it sounds wonderful. You get all the lows that you're missing when you run it the "normal" way...and it's suprisingly loud that way, too.

I use it as a practice amp, and my daughter is allowed to use it as much as she sees fit with her Squire Mini-Strat (she's 8 yo).

...but occasionally I convert it into a secret weapon...muah ha ha!

I put a funnel over the speaker (attached by a wide elastic band), crammed some poly tubing into the peak of the funnel, ran it up my mic stand into my mouth--voila! Instant talk box!

I remember having one (7-100) and loved the preamp output jack on the rear, allowing it to be connected to a larger amp for use as a guitar distortion effect. 8)

my guitar instructor has one in his studio and we use it for lessons. I really like it and have been looking for one. it has some nice growl and good tone IMO. He speaks very highly of them and I usually take his word as gospel since he has been around a while.

Hey stratmastah, I had a thing too and last year I decided to do something about it. I bought this killer combo and never regretted it. I didn't buy the Pignose because of technical stuff or acoustic advantages. I saw one, I wanted it, I bought it and now I love it. A Pignose is not for everyone, it is a love affair. :)

There is a lot of small modeling, battery powered killer amps today but this one is the Holy Grail. One volume, zero effects. I love it like it is, when I want more of anything else I use another amp. Keep us posted. :)

Be forewarned: The replacement battery pack which you will eventually need costs like $10 less than if you bought the amp new again.

My 7-100 Pignose from 1972 uses 6 AA batteries. It still works great. The bigger Pignose amps have the rechargeable batteries.
