GE Financial Services just announced a deal with Fender Musical Instruments for special financing for anyone interested in buying a Fender Products. I guess there's a low interest rate for those who qualify and want to finance their next Fender purchase.

Agreed. Not the best of times to be offering credit to anyone for that matter.

I don't use credit anymore.
It's a hard lesson learned for a lot of people.
If I can't walk into a music store and pay cash for a guitar or amp or what ever else I need, I don't want it.
For some people who absolutely need it, this might be a good thing. Some are going to take advantage of this offer and they're OK with the use of financing their purchase. Still for others, it may not be the best thing.
Fender is in the business of selling a product that is in demand. This is just another way for them to do that.

I usually get 12 mo. free financing whenever I purchase a guitar. I have always paid it off before getting charged for the interest.

I definitely fall into the 'guitars are a necessity' bracket as thats how I make a living. I'm still paying off 2 credit cards though so in essence my gear eventually pays for itself. Interest is a different story though.

My financier says a couple of licks of paint and a touch of wall papering will go a long way to any future gas releif

GE money have quite a bad rep in the UK. Is it a subsidiary of GE finance?

HA! Well now: apart from my wife the only other serious long term relationship in my life was with a girl who worked for GE Capital here in the UK.

As a result of how that relationship ended GE have a massively bad reputation with me, that's for sure. Nuclear weapons are the appropriate tool in this case I feel - luckily for them their headquarters seems to have moved and I'm too lazy to find out where to.

I jest - and naturally my opinion is based on extreme personal bias. In reality be clear that GE are safe from armed attack from me: I understand full well there must be innocent people working from them who are not lying, duplicitous, deceiving bastards.

There must be...

Anyway, my feelings have mellowed in the last 13 years (and two months). A bit.

There. Shall I go back to keeping my private life... private?

Cheers - C
