GE Financial Services just announced a deal with Fender Musical Instruments for special financing for anyone interested in buying a Fender Products. I guess there's a low interest rate for those who qualify and want to finance their next Fender purchase.

My wife is very tolerant when I'm able to pay cash for something. I've got no chance of buying something and having to pay interest for it when I repaired our refrigerator door with gaffa tape the other night

Some of my equipment is financed thru GE Financial. They are OK all things considered. Web pay is easy, so I dont interact with them much.

Most guitars are small enough investments that its just not worth the extra expense to finance.

The only time I have ever financed a guitar is if I bought something on 12 months same as cash or something like that - id never pay interest on a guitar, just pay cash

When it comes to musical instruments, if I cannot walk in with money in hand and walk out free and clear with an instrument, it is not worth buying. I do not mind a layaway program, most stores do not charge a finance charge for that. I bought 1 guitar using lawaway. I used 1 credit card for a guitar purchace once and it took over a year to pay it off. I was charged an extra $100 dollars for that instrument. That money could have been used for an upgrade or better instrument.

For now, I will just save the money needed for gear and walk out with it that day. BTW $100 dollars left for my NGD.

My philosophy: If I can't buy it outright on the spot then I don't need it until I can. I hate credit cards and especially paying interest considering how little interest banks pay me to use my money...LOL

Good Lord, that's all I'd need! Why not give me a line of credit at the gun store and Tractor Supply while they're at it?

The funny thing is that IMO Fender is a company that has a really fair price on their products and they're offering financing. You could be buy 2 American Standards and a nice amp for the price of 1 Les Paul and I don't see any special financing help from Gibson.

+1. Well said. If I don't have the money for it...it doesn't come home. My wallet has no credit cards...and as for this financing-I couldn't have a beautiful guitar in my house that wasn't yet mine. 8)

Seriously, the combined cost of my used AVRI 57 Strat and new AVHR Tele add up to the cost of a new Les Paul Standard o_O

Yeah, I don't think that's a good idea giving guitarists a line of credit, that's like giving a raging alcoholic an unlimited bar tab <___< with interest of course

Heeey guys, don't forget Fender is a business corporation. They are working on any idea that can give them any% increase in the sales numbers.

Ultimate icing on the cake for credit business is so that consumers will conveniently, securely spend more money that they don't have.

Think about it...A guitar is 100% luxury. By default, its something you dont "need". Its truly only something you "want".

Realistically, if you need to finance the purchase of something you dont "need", then you simply cant afford the instrument and shouldnt buy it.

Sorry Jay, I'm not understanding this whole guitars are a luxury not a neccessity thing.

Nah joking aside I'm with you and RK on this one. If I aint got the green I dont spend it. Banks are nothing but a legalized mafia, they give me nothing for my hard earned. I'm not prospering them by indulging in their wicked ploys.
GE money have quite a bad rep in the UK. Is it a subsidiary of GE finance?
