Beginners often struggle with left hand position... so my mate Kelvin (a guitar teacher) invented the Space Trainer - helps ensure you get the correct hand shape and don't grip the neck like a gorilla holding a baseball bat! You can now get them worldwide from http://guitar-gizmo.com. :)

Like most teaching aids, it's simple but effective. Why didn't I think of it?? :?

Hmmmm, it seems we are in the very gizmo oriented society. What do you think some lad in india uses to play a sitar.

If you have set of healthy hands that is all you need. Bad habits develop, so big deal everything can be fixed if not play the blues.

It is a gimmick and a crutch where millions upon millions of budding guitarists never used, needed nor will ever need such a thing. I think it is ridiculous.
As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

It's a learning aid to help beginners through the early stages - nothing more, nothing less.

No-one's saying you can't learn without it... it was designed to meet a specific need and it does it very well. Particularly with young guitar students who are easily discouraged and can simply give up playing after a few lessons.

You don't need a peg winder or electronic tuner, or capo but they make playing guitar easier!

PS: Coincidentally, I also play the Sitar!
