I'm at work right now, but I'll definitely check it out when I get home. I think John 5 kicks ^$$. 8)

His playing is so good it puts me off that he thinks he has to do all the other weird crap. Or maybe he's just eccentric. At any rate... there are so many good musicians out there that I tend to overlook the truly weird ones.

In short... he is good but I don't care for him. YMMV 8)

gd gd :) you wont regret it!

as far as him being weird and over the top, thats why hes classed as a shredder as well as being to do many other styles. Eccentricity or weird may also be classed as originality which is quite original these days. Not bagging on anyone, but quite alot of instrumental albums by many artists sound very samey accross the genre of shred, nice to hear something refreshing, and its nice to know hes willing to push himself all the time as a guitarist. What an inspiration. Maybe not by his style for some, but definatley his attitude for all aspiring guitarists.

He is the weirdest most normal guy there is, if that makes any sense. I just think the makeup is part of a character just like Alice Cooper and when the show is over he is as normal as they come. He is without a doubt a tremendous player who can play anything. I used to love reading early interviews with him where he would say after a show everyone would go party and he would go buy a couple of instructional DVDs and sit in the hotel or bus playing all night. He would also sometimes look up the hottest teacher in the town he was playing and take a live lesson. Now that just goes to show how even a guy at his level is still trying to learn new things. Cool guy.

Yeah... I can buy into the Alice Cooper analogy. There is no doubt... the boy can play! 8)

I'm not a fan of his music, but a John 5 fan nonetheless (if that makes sense). His talent is amazing. I watched the video on YouTube where he showed his Tele collection. He seems real down to earth...I was wrong to judge him based on his appearance. I can definitely relate to his passion for Teles. I am now a proud owner of his Squier J5 Tele. I bought it also after seeing him demo it on YouTube.
