Hi everyone, I'm looking to up grade my delay Pedal. And of course their are a lot out their. I want one that has the " tap" feature. And is wicked cool sounding. About what i play: Fifty's Strat with Tex Specials pu, a fender Blues Deluxe, Keleey mod Boss blues driver, Vox Classic wah and my 1980ish delay Pedal.. I play a lot of reggae and Jahwaiian stuff.. Any ideas on modern upgrades to my Delay would be nice.. Thanks, Mark

What kind of delay do you have? Some of the delays made back then are favored for their warmth due to analog circuitry. I would recommend the Boss DD-7, lot of very good delays packed into that lil pedal. It has the tap function you're looking for and much much more, like reverse delay, analog simulation, and modulation. Also has the option to go stereo if you want it. Also I would take a good look at the EH Memory Man with Hazarai or Cathedral Reverb, both have tap and equally awesome features. I myself want a vintage memory man, I like the old 1980 stuff ^^

+1 to this except I want the Boss DD-7. I love reverse guitar effects as well as tap functions and has a built in looper in it.

I have a Boss DD3 and I love it. Probably the most fun pedal to sit down and tweak.

I use this

Quite a short delay by modern standards, its not a modern pedal but their still around if you look for em. It does great slapback, is warmer than toast in a overcoat and cost £20. It goes from long spring reverb sounds on minimal settings to decent rock delay on maximum time settings.

Its never going to suit a U2 fan though.

You could try a DLS Echo Tap...it has two I/O (input/outputs) and true bypass. Solid metal contruction, rugged switches. Works in front of the amp or in the loop. Different LED colour depending on mode to avoid confusion.

Based on analogue sound, for those vintage lovers, which is particularly apparent in the loop where setting the tone control on full gets you almost back to your original tone, and you get darker from there (this is a personal thing, some may see that as a con). Very quiet.

A dealer friend of mine was telling me today that he uses a Danelectro delay and finds it to be a great unit,I don't know if it has a tap feature though.Electro Harmonix makes the Cathedral Delay that is a superb unit , the #1 Echo,The Memory Man,Memory Man Deluxe,Stereo mewmory Man, Memory Boy and Memory Toy some of these have tap functions and their gear is pretty low priced but very dependable,I've had an Electric Mistress, Bad Stone and Big Muff Pi for close on 40yrs with constant use and no problems ever.
