My church has a 65' fender reverb amplifier which noone plays...i was thinking about seeing if my pastor would sell it to me...

Is this a good idea and how much should i expect to pay used. I mean our church has had it for a number of years, noone plays it though..

BTW its a '65 Deluxe Reverb

That is a great amp. they are sought after. I have one, it will get you pretty much any Fender sounds you want.

They have skyrocketed in price, lately. I would offer 7 or $800 ( a deal for you!!)

Three gently used ones in chicago suburb shops recently ranged between $1000 and 1100.

If memory serves, 'paid 860 new for a '65 Reissue in about '99.

Yes. YOu should make an offer. That's an amp people boast about.

Put on a sad face. Wear old clothes. Offer a low price....$200.

Promise to play in the church band every sunday for the next two years if he knocks off another $50.

Good idea BigJay as they don't seem to use it much!!

What would you bet that amp has the original tubes in it? Helli, if gets the amp for $200 or less, he could probably sell the tubes to pay for the amp.

If he's catholic and "steals" that amp for $200 or less, he ought to put some cash in the basket. Aint it funny how a little cash keeps you in the good graces of the church?

Now there's an idea....Low ball the Padre on the amp. Sell the tubes on Ebay for what you paid for the amp. Buy new tubes for the amp at 1/3 of what you sold the old tubes for. Put the rest of the tube-sale proceeds in the basket next sunday.

If he's really smart, he'll spread the proceeds out over several sundays so everybody notices what a good parishiner he is.

   Yup....recovering Catholic..... :P

thats what i dont like about my religion (catholic).... its all about the money.... thats all they seem to care about.... the tuition money from my school mostly goes to the diocese not the school

Oops, 'gave you local prices for a '65 Reissue Twin Reverb, not Deluxe.

Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

Make a nice offer and then ask to play there; have done 188 Masses and services in 3 1/2 years as bassist and doing a weekly playing out in front of 500 to 1500 people is good for more than the soul.

And to an earlier poster...the diosce is the org which keeps the whole area working. A way sort of around that is to stipulate your individual donation goes for maintenance, mortgage, etc of your individual church.

Make an offer, I`m sure the church would take it especially if its just sitting there not being used.

Don't offer anything!

1) see if they will sell it
2) if YES ask what they want for it

you might get it at a heck of a deal.
