Whatever you do steer well clear of Full Sail University in Florida. I went there and 50k later i regret every second i spent in that "school" They are more of a "hey we've got fancy equipment, but we'll never teach you how to use it efficiently" type of school.

The admissions reps will try to sell you your dreams. And then when you graduate at the end of the year you'll wonder....did i even learn anything?

I got my Associates of Science in "Recording Arts". I know what things are and what they do but have never really put that knowledge into action.

Also, be weary of accreditation, Full Sail claims they are accredited but it is NOT with the state. No state school will recognize any classes you will take with Full Sail. So if you decide you would like to go to a "Real" college, they will no recognize your diploma or credits.

Thankfully a lot of schools are starting music production classes. For example. I live in Daytona Beach, FL and Daytona State College has started a music production program that is about $4,000 total. Compare that to a tech program at a "specialized school" that will cost you 40k minimum.

Do your homework. Don't be an example like me.

I am not sure if this is still the case, but Belmont University in Nasvhville, TN has a highly regarded and well-established music performance and production program.

Personally, I'm aiming for Peabody, or, if I'm EXTREMELY lucky and they're taking in any old schmuck off the street when I apply, Berklee.

You guys will love Boston.

My son is 26 and in his last semester for his PHD in Bio-Statistics at Harvard School Of Public Health.

It's just an awesome city for entertainment and culture. He lives two blocks from Fenway Park and on a rare occasion will get to a Red Sox game.

It's hard to have a car down there because of no parking available but there's the "T" to get you everywhere... and of course, the ever popular shoe leather express.

Ditto!! You'll likely also get a second on that from Miami Mike.
I treasure some great memories there from the late 60's, none of which, unfortunately, am I at liberty to share with you, but I hope she's happy and well these days. Two of our sons attended institutions of higher learning there. Now I wish one of them was in an institution and that his brother would assist in having him committed. :P :P Aerosmith, Bonnie Rait or no, Boston is forever young. Do it!!

I used to live in Murfreesboro when I was just a young lad. I remember going past the University ever day on our way to school. 8)
