I had a terrible missed opportunity to meet Steve Harris from Iron Maiden. I was working at a audio rental facility building their Protools Rental rigs. Basically a self contained rig in a flight case that could be rolled to studios on demand. I was offered the job on a trial and if i liked it after i was done i could stay on. Well, i didn't like it very much so for three weeks i soldered my arse off without taking lunch so i could get the work done.

The ONE day i took a few minutes to go get a slice, i was walking back and this feller was coming towards me wheeling a suitcase. I got a bit of a chuckle thinking to myself, "man that looks a lot like Steve Harris. Someone should tell him the 80s are over" We exchanged glances. I being in denial and his look was more like "what the hell are you looking at bloke"

When i got back to work i mention this to the dude at the front desk and he told me "yeah you just missed him, he was picking up his suitcase. Look he signed my bass. He's been here almost everyday because they are mixing Rock In Rio up the street so he comes down here to do some work in the project studio we have"

holy crap was i disappointed. Moral of the story... always look up from the soldering you are doing from time to time... you just might miss something.

I might be going to see Arlen Roth this Friday in a small club. The musicians usually mingle with the audience afterwards so it should good.

Very cool! :D I know his sideman, we jam sometimes. I should probably catch a show sometime and say hi.

I wish I were old enough to have met a few certain people (you can probably guess who lol) but I have been fortunately enough to meet some awesome musicians. :)

I got to meet Carolyn Wonderland after a show recently. It's turns out we have a mutual friend who I play guitar with now and who she used to play with when she was my age. So he called ahead and hooked me up and made sure it was alright for me to get in the venue and everything.

And of course I've met Jimmie Vaughan, but y'all are probably sick of me talking about it. I know my friends are.

And I'm going to get to meet Hubert Sumlin this summer, so I'm really excited about that. :D

I've met Tommy Emmanuel and had an unplanned workshop with him when I saw he was giving one at the local ice cream parlour that's just down the street from our beach house. I rushed home, Mom and Grandma gave me the money, shooed me away excitedly, and BAM!! A friggin' awesome afternoon. :lol
I got to meet him before the workshop, and then we spoke briefly with one another when he signed my guitar. He's an awesome guy--a total gentleman, funny, and humble. :P

I've also exchanged emails with Brian May, my guitar hero and one of my role models. Probably the best day of my life when I saw and read his reply in my inbox.

I've met many and been very lucky enough to have played with many also. Steven Adler, Gilby Clarke, Bap Kennedy to name a few.

Hey Snowy,

Glad to hear about your dog, I've been meaning to ask how he's doing? You had said they had to remove the pad, does that grow back or just heal over?

I met Danny Gatton back in '91 and it was a great experience. My guitar teacher's band opened for him at a club in NYC and we met him and his band in a backstage room afterwards. He really was a gracious gentleman. He offered me to try his Tele, but I wimped out after seeing his earth-shattering performance. Got his autograph too, I pulled a promo poster down off the wall.
