PRSi are actually very well made guitars. I used to own one and it was fabulous. THEN PRS decided to no longer make ANY Left Handed models. So I sold my Left Handed PRS McCarty and have never looked back.

I would like to say that almost EVERY guitar made in America is Handcrafted. Fender, Martin, Taylor, Gibson....i could go on.

I've seen the PRS factory they do the same things as everyone else, just put more colors out.

actually a good percentage of Guitars made anywhere are made on one of these

A Dual Spindle Turning Center. I don't think you will see them using that.

Not defending PRS, but don't most Strats and Teles look the same? Doesn't all Les Pauls and Gibson 335's look the same? I'm not trying to get a fight started or anything, just playing the Devil's Advocate.

A well spoken point that is true! That and the fact that the Stratocaster is the most common electric guitar there is.

They aren't really my cup of tea, and other than the SE's they're overpriced.
They look nice though.

But hey--we all have different sizes and shapes to our bodies and our hands, so if they fit yours, and you can afford them--go for it.

They're pretty but nothing particularly stand out in my opinion. Yes they are overpriced, again in my opinion.

I love when people say things are overpriced. What is overpriced? Someone must be buying them at their prices on they would not be selling them and in business.
I think it is more that someone don't want to spend 3000. for a custom 22 or 24 or 4000. for a hollow body ect.ect. even the Private Stock guitar so to them they are overpriced.
Overpriced to one sure is not to another!!!!

The frontman of my favorite band plays one, and it sounds pretty decent.

Several guitarists from other bands I like use them too. I don't think they're bad guitars, but I'm a fender guy myself.

I'm actually at the college Paul Smith graduated from. I wanna do some digging to see if his old music teacher is still around somewhere.

I'm a recent PRS convert. I got tired of fighting to get the clean blues tones I wanted from Gibson's humbuckers (with the exception of the Classic '57s) from my two favorite amps... '65 Deluxe Reverb and '65 Twin Custom 15 Reissues. I tried a SE Singlecut Korina when they first came out and all the tones I wanted were there. Then I tried an American made Mira and it sounded and played even better. I liked the Mira so much that I traded my Les Paul Classic for it.

I'll always be a Strat and Tele player first but PRS has jumped to the top of my humbucker equipped-non Fender guitars list. Oh, and the Mira cost less than the Les Paul Classic it replaced.

i think they are fairly good guitars, i think if i was buying a mia guitar then i would buy a tele instead, but im a huge tele fan so......
as far as guitarists that play them orianthi is a competent guitarist and she plays them and mark tremonti is a brilliant guitarist in alterbridge (not keen on creeds material though! :s).

I'm not a huge fan of PRS either, but they are quality instruments. This is the Fender forum, but it strikes me funny how many folks just can't look out of the Strat box. cvilleirais right, they are hand crafted in Maryland. Someone said they all look the same LOL. What about Strats, Teles, LP's? Starts have looked pretty much the same except for headstocks for over 50 years.

Thats exactly my point. Though PRS have missed the MIA line out of their product catalogue all but completely. They go >foreign manufacture> custom shop, with nothing inbetween. Their great guitars, no doubt. Thats why Gibson feel/felt so threatend by them. They just dont appeal to me like Fender or even Jackson guitars do. Does everyone here like Jackson guitars? I doubt it. Does everyone here like Fender guitars? I strongly suspect they do.

The thing I didn't like about their guitars was the the control layout. I can't stand Jackson's either. I like simplicity. I did play a PRS One, I liked the Soapy a little, but I liked the Gibby Melody Maker better.

Correct me if I am wrong. Weren't the PRS guitars invened to be a "perfected blend" between Fender strat and Gibson lp. Sort of "borrowing" cues and ideas from both and blending in one product.

I experienced several models from SE as well as custom line and found them to be top notch built quality. What I did not like was the neck shape which seemed the same on all of hem and the glossy sticky finish on SE. Another thing that I did not like was the Tone. Position of humbucker pickups seem to produce blah sound with no soul to it. That is at least to my ears.

PRS gitars seem like a super models all looks and decked out and empty inside (Sorry PRS fans).

PRS is still in business so there must be a crowd that prefers them over other guitars.
