I recently have played a few PRS guitars at a few stores and compared to Gibsons, and Gretschs, can't figure out how they warrant the price tags on these mass produced guitars.

I understand the scale is between fender and Gibson but all I can grant them is they have good finishes. I mean does anybody need a guitar made out of foreign (probably illegally harvested) woods?

Most PRS are made in mass just like all other brands. What is so special? I really don't like the neck shape, feels wide and flat like a Gibson 50's neck humped an ibanez rg series.

The SE series are mass produced in Korea, and offer unsurpassed quality. Rivaling if not bettering Fender Japan/Mexico or Epiphone. PRS Usa are all handcrafted instruments.
I just find them bland, nothing amiss on the quality. Just not my cup of tea.

From the examples I've played the quality seemed to be there, even on the Korean ones Niki mentioned.

But like both Niki and Nevin they do nothing for me and I also tend to not even give them a minutes thought when in a guitar store. They just don't hold any charm for me in the same way Fender, Gibson, Gretsch or Martin would. But I guess I like brands with a lot of history.

PRS and Johnny Hilland stopped their association not long ago. Hilland is endorsed by MusicMan now. Can't wait to see the result. :)

PRS are made here in Maryland and they are mostly hand made and of top quality materials (wood+ electronics) The foreign made SE models are not bad either from the ones I have dealt with. The U.S. made guitars rival most other domestic made.

back on track, PRS, overpriced? probably, at least a bit.

Crap? hardly.

they are all very nice guitars, that i think 'someone' should like, that someone isn't me however. like the others i have tried em out, thought they were pretty nice, but none made me actually want them.

HAHAHA!! I nearly crapped myself when someone posted a picture of Chad Kroeger....wow....that was priceless.

I would like to say that almost EVERY guitar made in America is Handcrafted. Fender, Martin, Taylor, Gibson....i could go on.

I've seen the PRS factory they do the same things as everyone else, just put more colors out.

Whatever you think of Nickelback, that was a horrible way for them to be treated.

Non of us like PRS that much, suprise suprise. Guess thats why were not on the PRS forums. Some people love em, good luck to em. I dont get the appeal though.

I once had a PRS owner tell me that a strat didnt sound any good unless it was plugged into a load of effects. I then fell about laughing as he plugged into some mesa amp set to stupid gain. Obviously too thick to realize that clipping is a effect too.

My alltime no1 hated setup is the PRS into Mesa. Everyone was doing it in the 90's. It got old really fast.

I have played many guitars, but I have always came back to Fender. This time I am here to stay. I won't even bother with another non-FMIC guitar. Thank goodness FMIC has bought out a few other companies since the 80's, because my statement would be false.
