Kong, nice playing, my take on learning things are try and do your own thing, like if I'm watching a band and everyones playing the song as on the cd then it can get boring after a while same old same old heard this done many times, sure they can play every note, but I'd rather hear someone elses nuances if it's covers their doing, like you say you have a good ear, as long as your hitting what sounds good to you thats what will grab the attention IMO 8)

Kong, a couple thoughts, both zen-ish / pop pschology-ish.

Buy and read and absorb Philip Toshio Sudo's book, "Zen Guitar."

Never say anything you do not wish to be true. Look at your post to understand same. The mind obeys instructions, and if you say....

Best of fortune.

Not even the greats played the same song the same way everytime, Hendrix and SRV are good examples. Neither played their tunes the same way twice!

I see what you mean JSJH - my original post has a very negative bent. I'm not actually that negative and it was somewhat an attempt to be humble in describing what I think of my own playing.

I agree with the idea that negative thinking is very effective so the only alternative is to think positively. And I tend to think more positively in my pursuits. The book sounds intriguing, I'll definitely look into it, thanks for the thoughts...

Dude, we're on the same boat (well kinda...)

I cant remember what happened yesterday, I have horrible memory. BUT, when it comes to guitar playing, I know this may sound exetremly weird, I close my eyes, and imagine a massive filing cabinet, with all my memory in it. I go down to the draw that says, "guitar tabs" and find the song I wanna play. I know it sounds exetremly weird, but it seriously does work...well for me anyway.

If your having troubles with the soloing, I circle one bar, practise it over and over again, til I've mastered that. Then I go to the next bar, and so on and so forth.
