OK, now I'm officially sad. I was just finishing up breakfast and got to the last of a box of BJs Chocolate Chunk cookies, and I looked at the small crumbs on the bottom. It reminded me of how we used to pour all those crumbs on my dog's food; she'd love that special treat and demolish her breakfast. I still miss her; every now and then, I think about getting another shelter dog, but I'm not ready.

I know how you feel about your pet. We have a 2 year old boxer female and a 4 month old boxer male. I have never seen such affectionate dogs to us and to each other. I swear that they kiss when they greet each other! :P

We'd eat the chocolate...what was left was the cookie parts.

I know full well the pain that goes along with losing a beloved pet,We've had to put a couple down in the past few years. The most recent was our little cat Willie who had FIV the vets sent us a sympathy card and in it was a beautiful poem called Rainbow Bridge it basically was speaking on the pet's behalf saying they had gone to a place were they were always young and pain free,it also urged to take in another pet right away and show it allthe love you could to keep their memory alive.Strangely on that day a stray cat that we'd never seen showed up that day and we took him in and gave him the love Willie would have wanted and gotten.

Pets are part of the family, when we loose them it hurts just the same.

IMHO you are not only ready, but will have a new family member, probably by the end of this month.
When our 16 year old cat spent her 9th life it was like loosing a best friend. There was a new kitten in the house less than a week later.

Without a doubt I know what you are going through. Every dog I had was a member of the family with there own character, quirks and personality. Till this day when we fondly talk about one it is no different than any lost loved one. It will take some time but then go and get a new one and believe me you will never forget your old one, but you will be happy.

mclmk8d,

I feel for you dude! I lost my cat, Huxley to a stomach tumer in 2005. He used to follow me everywhere, to work, my parents house, He even famously came to a small party at a friends house! I named the first guitar i built after him (built the body from scratch) Bellow is the "Huxley 501" It all ways reminds me of him and it never fails to put a smile on my face when ever I play it.

I rekon you should buy another box of BJs Chocolate Chunk cookies. I hope they taste nositalgic in the best possible way.

Andy

Dude I'm sorry for your loss.

Unfortuanetley, I think I'll soon share your pain. We've got a 12 year old chiwuwa (however you spell it), he's exetremley unhealthy and overweight, I just dont think he'll make it past 13.

Just remember, things like that do happen, an its ok to get all piseed ofvf about it. Write a song about, you'll feel alot better :)
