Minnesota Public Radio is streaming a new song by Prince called "Cause and Effect." It features some nice guitar work. Check it out!

In my humble opinion Prince is a sweet guitarist.

He is a good guitarist. I wish he would do more playing than he does!!

He sure knocked it out of the park on My Guitar Gently Weeps in the Concert for George!! 8)

From what I've heard, he runs a tight ship and those that don't keep their chops and technique up, get the boot.

I've seen him on a few specials and the guy can play guitar, drums, sax, keyboards and his songwriting is pretty good...sometimes.

Of course many say that genuis talks and wisdom listens.

Lotusflow3r has some great moments and some not so great, but he is an amazing performer to see 'live'. I never cared for him until I saw his show.

Prince is a great showman. If you don't like him live, you just don't like music. He always has a smoking band.

From when he was first signed he had complete artistic control on his albums. As Mike pointed out he can play a lot of instruments on a pro level and has on many occasions played most of them on his albums. He is without doubt a great guitarist and I am with everyone else-wish he let loose more.

Ultimate Prince fan here... Glad to hear him still doin it !! , but I have to admit and be honest. This new song is not his best work in my opinion. It just don't have that ridiculous "I need to keep playing it again and again" quality. Actually I am still waiting for him to bring that back.

In my personal opinion he just can't seem to top his early albums: For You, Prince, Dirty Mind, Controversy, 1999 and Purple Rain. After them albums he seemed to lose that universal smash hit quality and went for more of a creative, artsy thing. Which is cool, but just doesn't give birth to timeless classics that define a moment in a young persons life so they remember it like a taste on their mouth forever. That just aint happening anymore. I guarantee you in 6 months to a year, this new Prince song wont even be remembered, let alone be being played. But I still bump me some 1999, Lets Go Crazy, When Doves Cry, Purple Rain (which can give a person tears at times), Controversy, etc...

So what gives man ? What happened ?

Tom Petty did this to me too. Sure his new (latest/comeback) album was cool. BUT it was far from "Don't Do Me Like That", "I Won't Back Down", "Breakdown", "Refugee", "American Girl", "Free Fallin", etc... come on !! This aint just a opinion here, something is going on.
