Elvis Costello, Bono, and The Edge were talking about this on tv last week. Bono was saying that sometime they would lay down so many tracks that there was a Gray mass where a song used to be.

I wouldn't mind seeing that!

I guess I just think too much and will rarely be satisfied. For what its worth, to previous posts, I love Chinese Democracy because it can be done live and done very well. Thats why Guns have a 3rd guitarist and a 2nd keys player now. Its when something is so overdone that the live show is a let down that I can't stand.

CC I know exactly what you are talking about. I like my music rax and greasy but then I also like a slick production when it is called for. Since we are both G&Rs fans Welcome to the Jungle is perfect being greasy and so is November Rain being slick with the strings. It all boils down to what the song calls for and your vision of it.

You're totally right with a perfect analogy also Stray'.

What we're doing sounds great at the mo with a few intro samples here and there but I guess it's my guitar parts I'm never happy with and I have issues with the bass not being 'round' enough and the drums not as hard as they could be. I still think there are 2 tracks that call for a little strings goin on but alas we couldn't do it live and they wouldn't be subtle enough on the track to warrant doing the songs live without them.
