problem with buying in the US then taking it back to the uk with you is that you may very well get charged customs on it (which may I add, a bloody joke IMO)

I got a US Jazz Bass from the Bass Place in AZ.
Even after shipping costs, import tax and VAT I STILL saved $400 on UK prices.

You should check out Waltons in the city centre....I forgot what the street is called, it's beside the big purple !@$ bar. ..They gave a few fender basses in there.

EDIT: The censored word is the three letter work for "homosexual" (Just to make clear, that 'm not trying to offend anyone).

In the end it all really works out the same. I'm in the Us Navy, so I spend money in a lot of different countries. I met a guy in Scotland recently who had purchased his American Deluxe Strat while on vacation to New York. He basically got it half off since the Pound is worth so much more than the dollar. I couldn't even consider buying anything expensive in Scotland or Ireland, for that matter. It's like paying double for an American.

Expense aside, Scotland is by far my favorite of all the countries I've been to and there were a ton of guitar nuts everywhere I went.

I most certainly did. I've been there three times actually. It's my favorite port in the world.

Hah small world, I don't live all that far from there. The west of Scotland is certainly my fave part of the UK :)

I have spent a good bit of time in Helensburgh (Mariners, The Imperial, Budda Bar, etc.) and have also had a few nights in Glasgow. I always meet the greatest people when I'm in your country.
