Price differences in guitars! The more expensive the guitar the bigger price differences..I live in Sweden and, well check out the differences...

I counted this with todays currency!

USA prices from Internet music stores. All products New ofc

Fender Standard american stratocaster:

USA: $949.99 - $984.99

Sweden: 1901.62

Fender VG Stratocaster:

USA: $1,699.99 - $1,734.99

Sweden: 3169.37

Fender 54 Stratocaster

I couldnt find a American price but here in sweden it goes for 8.340$

Same goes with Gibson,ESP,Ibanez..everything

Just for an example a Gibson LP standard costs here just under 4000$ while you can get in the states for $1,999.99 - $2,329.99

Sometimes i go throught american websites and stuff.........and get annoyed how INSANSLY LOW prices are there compared to here.

Americans, you are lucky!

It's true...I live in Ireland...the '57 hot rod strat is listed for $1999.99 USD...and it's street price is about $1200 USD...last week I walked into a Music shop and saw one with a price tag of €2090....that's $3060 USD....That's almost 3 times more!!!...although internet prices are a lot cheaper (the sites here sell them at list price converted into Euros (so that same guitar on the internet will cost about €1600).

You lucky Americans. lol

Yeah all companies do this though. Even with the pound so strong against the dollar, most companies will still say that a 50 dollar product in the US is worth 50 quid, it's criminal really.

I can buy strings from america and have them shipped to the UK for less than it costs me to go to my local music store and buy some. It's madness!

The price of an item depends on whether you live in the country in which said product is made, or where the company headquaters are. I'll give you examples that aren't guitar related: Take for instance a LV purse, it cost more in America than in France where they are made by hand. Excellent quality pearls from Japan will cost a fortune over here, but in Japan they keep the best ones & sell them at a much lower price.
My LV handbag was purchased in America. $$$$
My pearl necklace were handmade for me in Japan while my husband was on business. I've never seen any pearls in America that can compare to the quality of mine.

Is this to easy of a solution? Get to know an American. Find the guitar you want. So you have purchase price, sales tax, find out shipping costs and throw in some extra for the effort.

See if it makes it worth while.

i'm american but i don't see myself as lucky. for one i'm left handed, so i have about oh 10 basic choices for guitar bodys(most common).and other than fender , they always charge alot more. and i can get on british websites and find all kinds of left handed guitars. sure this too may be more expensive but i like having more choices.

Damn I'm happy I'm heading to the Us for some shopping!
But the thing is I have to get an extra seat on the plane for my guitar if I wanna buy one there!!!!!
Which I might as well just buy one over here.
Oh well plenty of clothing to buy and other gadgets!!!
