It is a witch hunt to help the GM owner which is the U.S. Goverment now days. Mr Toyoda should have just announce that they are scaling back production to work on increasing there quality and that all U.S. plants will be shut down do to the decrease.
What a way to thank Barrack Obamyyyy!!!!

Toyota has five Major U.S. plants in WV. TX. KY. IN. AL. and a new one now on hold in MS.
WE better hope that's not it with them, seems they may employ a lot of people here. Maybe Barrack Obamy will have a and tell us why its good for them to have to slow production here. We need more people out of work you know!!!!

People have to see since Honda opened it's first plant in Ohio back in 1982 that most new U.S.Auto plants since have been opened by Japanese makers while American makers moved into Mexico and Canada or just shut down U.S. plants. Plus we tax payers did not have to give them bailout money because they appear to make it them self and it is not by selling junk.
Honda and Toyota still make the best cars for the middle class person to buy and now days you even have to give it to Hyundai, look at there line up quality. Now Trucks I am still a American brand guy which is why their is three Honda cars and a Dodge truck out front, but that Tundra don't look bad now.

We need to get Mr. Toyoda to open more plants here because the United Auto Workers are not going to do it. I would work in one of his Toyota plants!!!! We need to get off the high horse here in the U.S. and keep what Manufacturing we have left and bring in more and not slap the hand of those who have done so. We have allowed our politicians and unions reps to over regulate and price America out of the Manufacturing business which was the back bone of America. The Science's and Service industry is never going to support the masses alone minus a middle industry ( the making of products )

Sure do 12B My Friend! Now days many of those import cars are built here and they are not laying off there workers like others. That is until Toyota stopped production for a week because of this stuff now! There is more behind this then recalls, since Ford announced it's profits and GM still loosing money what better why to help GM. Go after the guy who took over the number one spot of auto manufacturing world wide from GM. The Chinese even backed out of the Hummer purchase because GM is a mess

Another interesting note on this topic... it was an American company that originally supplied the throttle pedals that are being replaced.
YZFJOE you are correct CTS supplied the pedal assemblies. That is the same CTS that make guitar pots they supply switches and such other items to many car manufactures. Pedal assemblies are from South Bend, Indiana Automotive plant.

Note: GM/Pontiac are on the recall list too. As I stated earlier, Toyota and GM are partners and Toyota builds certain GM models. I don't see any grand scheme to help GM here. This could actually do more harm than good for them.

[ this accelerator pedal recall should really be a floor mat recall. There's nothing wrong with how the pedal works. It functions properly but the floor mat can slide around and cause interference.

I hate to be the one to issue a bone of contention but....
Floor mats can cause problems in atleast every car I've ever owned.
Infact its the first thing I throw out of the drivers door.

From what I have read Toyota and GM dissolved their partnership areas last year.

I don't see any contention at all. We're saying the same thing.
