I've seen Sonny 3 or 4 times, mostly in very small clubs ( about 200 people ). There are some questions in life that have no satisfactory answer - why Sonny isn't bigger/ more famous than what he is, is one of those puzzling ones ! The man in my opinion is THE SLIDE GUITARIST of today. He creates sounds that are so different from everyone else and his technique is likewise out - of- this- world !! Perhaps because he is no pretty boy or doesn't have the greatest voice is partly to blame. Anyway, he is an awesome musician and I don't give a damn whether he is famous, who he is going out with, what his latest video is like, etc. By all means.... GO.... there aren't too many real guitar heroes left, but he is one of them.

Do not miss that show. Sonny Landreth live is a lifetime experience.

When they break out into "Congo Square" - whew!

Because he is a players player. If you look at all the great players out there that are not in or never were in a huge band they all play to a smaller crowd. Satch, Vai, Yngwie, Johnson and even Beck when you think about it. In fact I was just talking to my brother about the Garden show and was saying I believe this is the first time I believe Beck co headlined the Garden in his life which is mind boggling. But outside of the Yardbirds Beck was never in a huge band though he turned down the Stones gig. Hey better for you to see Sonny in a small place than a huge one.

By all means go! Small venues are the best, people that attend know the artist and are there for the music. Have a great time and tell us all about it over the week-end.
Enjoy,
John.E
