I'm gonna get a t-bucket 300 ce soon and i read on a review that you should use a pickguard or you'll destroy the finish.

i'm not going to use one though. i think an acoustic looks awesome when it's been scratched up. you can tell that someone's played the hell out of it.

There's a guy here in the village in NYC that plays in the street, he plays many hours everyday there on an old beat Stella. No pickguard but he says he goes through guitars like hotcakes.

I read a book by his guitar tech that goes on to tell some really wild stories about Willie, his guitar, Trigger and others.

I said no because one of my acoustics does not have a guard but the other one does, so... ?

All my acoustics have pickguards,I hate scratches and dings on a guitar's finish.I play the heck out of my guitars but you'd never say by looking at them as they all look near mint, except the ones I bought used.

Both of my acoustics have pick guards. I like that look and I also like keeping the damage to a minimum.

Mines got 2. The guitar was built for strummin hard.

I had a look at the Tbucket, I much prefer my malibu. It's well worth a try before you shell out mate.

Back to the original post .... I think there's more to be said for having no pick guard than just a natural tendency for the guitar to slowly become a 'relic'. It makes sense to me that a chunk of plastic glued to the sound board might have an adverse effect on tone, clarity (note definition) and/or volume.

My old classical guitar had none, of course, since you're
not supposed to use picks on them.

My currently one does, being that it's a steel string and
most folks use picks with those.

My old classical, which I no longer have, started to look
a lot like Willie's guitar before we parted ways.

I have a cedar acoustic with a really thin satin finish and it came without a guard. I bought a guard for it but never put it on. Now I'm liking the look as it's getting scuffed and scratched.
