The girl can outright play, not to mention that she is a doll to boot. There must be something in the water in Australia with her and Tal Wilkenfeld both being phenomenal female players.Believe me to get that Jackson gig you have to be able to go from funk to shred so that should put it in a nutshell.

She is very talented, but she needs to get off the teen pop trajectory she's started down with her solo work. I don't know if it's advice from label/management or a desire for bigger commercial success, but she's clearly capable of much better that that.

Tal Wilkenfeld is a super hot bass player who tours with Jeff Beck. I swear she is the reincarnation of Jaco Pastorius. Check her out on YouTube. She's like, what....12? Just kiddin' but she is only in her early 20's.

She and Steve Vai do a song called 'Highly Strung'. Check it out on youtube.
She keeps up with him and even throws him a few curves in the song.
Don't let the "pretty chick" exterior fool you, she can shred just like the boys. Even put to shame most of the newer popular bands on the radio now.-n

Yeah, in the 80s Jennifer Batten was the girl who you would drool over looking at, and then be questioning your manhood when you watched her play.

Ironically, Jennifer was Michael Jackson's touring guitarist in the 80s and early 90s....

And according to this recent poster, member of the Jeff Beck group, so she's still got it...

Maria Andersson
Julianna Hatfield
Chrissy Hynde
Ana Popovic
Nancy Wilson
Allison Robertson
Ani DiFranco

Very talented guitar player. I agree that she needs to ditch the pop crap she is playing now. Kinda hard to incorporate riffs into that kind of music. Always nice to see a female that can play!

I like all her views!

But I think she is also pretty darn good. Don't care much for her song writing except for Believe and According to You. Didn't really hear much else on her CD I bought besides very awesome guitar playing.

Sorry,

Man that girl can shred with the best!

I came across her on a youtube vid playing Lights of Manos. That got me hooked. I was really disappointed when she didn't get to tour. Thought her talent may go unnoticed. But, she's caught on, and oh so easy on the eyes. Just hope she doesn't get to caught up in that "pop" stuff.

Well the death of Jackson had to be crushing, as it was probably the most high profile gig a player could have. There is an interview with Batten on youtube where she says she played for over a billion people touring with him. I would have to believe her management is targeting her to a young crowd which I cant blame them for. Funny how life worksout if the Jackson tour goes as planned all the focus would of been on what a great and beautiful virtuoso player he had on tour and more guitarist would of picked up on her fast. Now she has to go the on her own route. I mean no matter how great Tal is on Bass the Beck gig is as huge a boost you could get.

This lady doesn't shred, she doesn't rock, she just plays beautifully. And she's a Canuck! This is Liona Boyd.
