I would start with The Beach Boys, The Ventures, Dick Dale (Misirlou), maybe some Jan and Dean (Little Old Lady From Pasadena).

Fun thread, thanks for all the goodies.

BTW, the Mosrite crowd is vocal because the Mk I guitar IS that cosmic-hip. Consider the vocal-ity as loving guitar-ly evangelization.

Also, check out Barneldo from "Hapa" for a modern Mosrite rider on surf.

Ooo, ooo, wait, one more thing. The Endless Summer (original 1965 album) was played on an ES-335 backed by a Gretsch thin-hollow bass.
