Plus, my parents think, "$11? Pff, thats not worth it for just a pick. You can go down to the music shop and get one for $1." I say, "But its not just a pick, its possibley the best pick in the world!! And you have to be passionate about guitar to understand....."

Which reminds me, I've gotta go down to the music store to get a few picks anyway....I've only got 3.

yes it seems people that dont play guitar dont think that theres various qualities of the things needed to play.... picks especially... i showed one to my friend and he said "why the hell wouldnt you just use broken glass if you want something pointy?"... they assume that everything grips and sounds exactly the same when, in reality, they haven't the slightest f***in clue what they are talking about... quite obnoxious

I know, its so damn irratating. A pick is just a pick to people who dont know how to play, but to guitarists there is a major diffrence in a pick you made yourself and a pick that cost $20.

I use Dunlop 1.14s and there is a ritual I have to go through with a knife in which shave and scar everything but the tip so it feels like sand paper and I can get a great grip. By the way it was something I read years ago that Clapton said he did. Before that I used black nylon Dunlops as they have a bit of a grip built in but they bend to fast.
