I was wondering what it costs other members to insure their gear.I have a rider on my house insurance that didn't cost a lot extra as I don't play professionally any more but if I did decide to go playing again the rates would be prohibative and for my gear it would cost in the area of $2000+a year. How about everyone else especially those gigging are you paying through the nose for coverage?

I checked into Insuring my gear too. I don't play professionally either.
It was an outrageous amount to insure it all. SO we raised our homeowners insurance to cover replacement costs.

I did the same thing Chet. I just hope if it ever comes to making a claim that they don't say it's not covered as a regular household item. I would think it would fall under contents, I've got pictures, serial numbers, and receipts on hand though. We all know (especially after Katrina ) how insurance companies can be!

I asked my Insurance Agent and was told that as long as I'm not using any of my gear to make money on a regular basis it's covered under the Homeowner's policy.

That's good to hear Chet. I guess to be safe everyone should ask their own individual insurance company.
