I have one more guitar to go. I have found perfection...I think. I spent an hour in the shop with it and could not find a fault with playability or sound. I agree, after this next guitar purchace, I am done with buying guitars for a long long time. I may end up with a new amp some where down the road, but have found my new #1.

Wow...That last statement just hit me. I have called my HWY 1 my #1 for almost 2 years now, and now it will be my #2 in a few short months.

my GAS is coming to an end..... i'm getting the stang tomorrow and after that only 2 more remain until i have every sound i could possibly want, the jaguar HH and an HSS Am std strat..... the strat will probably come last (at least 18 months from now) because i absolutely HATE the bone white neck and headstocks on this year's models

What kind is the new guitar? It sounds funny, but when I bought that Telecaster, it was the first thing I saw when I walked into the store. It was like "bam" here I am, no need to look any further.

It was the first guitar I picked up that day, compared it to a few, came back to it and said no contest, this is my new guitar. No hesitation, no buyers regret...

A telecaster was the guitar I wanted before I even knew how to play guitar. My gut instinct was right. I should have listened to it back then. 8)

I already know your opinions on the guitar I want. I have read them in other posts. Although I am not a fan of the Telecaster, I can see the alure of having one. I am the same way about Stratocasters. I have said this in other posts, but I truely like the sound and playabilty better than the American Standards I compared it to. It is an American Special SSS. I really like the CAR color. I am just glad that my GASing for a new guitar is almost at an end.

Like you said, I know this is the one.

Looking forward to the day when I find that perfect guitar and I can finally stop looking. Don't know if that day will ever come because even though there are plenty of "perfect" guitars out there I just don't know if I can ever be completely satisfied. That's a fault of my own and not the guitars.

So lately I have been pondering away over my next guitar purchase... that feeling I get about twice a year.

I was playing my '52 Telecaster and it hit me.... this guitar, its perfect. I cannot find any fault with it. The guitar plays like a dream, looks great, suits my music perfect, I really do not need anything else.

I know it sounds crazy, but I think I am.... done, buying guitars anyways.

Its time to actually PLAY.

I look at my idols and how much money they had... they could have bought all the guitars I have ever wanted, but they mainly stuck with the same instruments.

Its one thing to collect, but I buy to play.

So could you do it? Could you end your gear acquisition and just play?

I knew mine was getting out of control when I almost bought a 3000+ dollar custom shop guitar on a whim.

Nevin1985, Bro, '52 Telecaster without a doubt a money making guitar and a good show to play as well, but, you need a back up guitar Bro and what that will be and taking care of your G.A.S. are one and the.......

I don't think I'll ever be GAS free as there are so many tones out there that I want to capture and even though I have a fine stable (25)of guitars I'll always be searching for another sound. No one guitar will ever be able to cover all colours of the tonal spectrum and I just love to hear the nuances between different guitars. There were so many guitars I've wanted since childhood and I vowed back then that some day I'll have them,I'm part way there and expect that maybe I'll never have them all but 'til that time comes I'll carry on with my life's obsession.

I've assembled a nice little stable in the two years I've been playing, and I think I'm okay for the foreseeable future. Here's the line-up:

ImageImageImageImage

2006 Fender '72 Telecaster Deluxe
2007 Squier Standard Stratocaster with Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups
2008 Fender Classic Player Jazzmaster Special
2009 Fender Super Champ XD amplifier

Like Nevin, I'm ready to stop shopping and start playing! 8)

My last purchase was a Hwy 1 Tele 3 weeks ago and I felt the same way about being done...until I saw a post with a few Rosewood Teles that were beautiful. Some day I`ll add one to the collection.

I kind of know what you mean in that my jazz bass is the only instrument in the world that feels like home, but G.A.S. is incurable unfortunately.

 I was in the midddle of posting something to you earlier Nevin when my computer kicked me off. Now I'm glad it did... Obviously you've seen the light. 8) You will always have your favorite... that go to guitar that meets most of your needs. Play it well and take care of it but do not ever think your GAS has been cured. It's an insidious virus that may lay dormant for years and then suddenly flare up when you least expect it... Typically when you've got more money than time and nothing else to do with either one...
