Alright, so there's the 3rd Annual Battle of the Bands at our high school, and I'm wondering if I should get a band together and audition to play in it. Auditions are March 20th, and the performance is May 21st.

I need some opinions or tips on how to go about this. I'm really wanting to go ahead and audition, but I don't have a band, and that would be PRET-TY important.... :P

Anything that could help would be awesome! Thank you. :D

Stick something up on school notice board, perhaps there are others in your school thinking the same thing, and like ships in the night your walking past them daily without knowing

Yeah, definitely post something up in the real and virtual world. Ask friends if they know anyone who plays or is into the same stuff. You only got a month, so I would also start trying to figure out what songs you might wanna cover...I mean I guess you could get some original stuff together too, but since battle of the bands often go by crowd reaction, it may not hurt to have a popular or well-known song in the set that may get a huge pop from the audience...

Good luck, it could be fun. I've done a few of these and I really dont like them personally. It's kinda cool playing to people who dont normally come out for the punk scene, but they dont usually pop for our songs and it's just a lot stress and shuffling to sell a couple t-shirts and buttons.

Haha, all of these are great ideas, especially Ripitup's suggestion!!

And I'm actually on the computer for two things at the moment: 1. To reply to this thread, and 2. To print out some well-known classic rock songs for my (Hopefully!!)future-band to cover for the performance. :P

I just hope I'm good enough!! :?

Make sure you find someone who can sing early on, finding a singer in school is a real hassle.
Make sure you agree on songs to cover quickly because it took us ages to agree on anything to do.

I agree. You'll need to hurry so you can practice before auditions. Good luck and keep us apprised of your situation. A vid would be cool when you do play at the Battle.
