My first guitar was a 1980 Gibson LP Custom which I eventually traded for a 1968 Fender Strat. Thus my love affair with Fenders! :D

My first guitar was a 2000 Ibanez JS-100. I still have it and still play it.

My first 6 string was a $120 Applause/Ovation copy, it had a thin body, looked real nice and sounded good but I could never get used to the round back on that thing.

My first bass was an Ibanez lawsuit Rickenbacher 4001. It was a great and smooth playing bass but DAMN that thing was big. I had downsized to a different Ibanez when I started gigging. Wish I had that first one now though, I guess they are pretty valuable since they didn't make too many.

My first guitar was the small one on the picture here below. I got it from my grandmother. It is of an unknown origin though it has been suggested on another thread that it might be a Swedish Levin. I think that may have been modeled after a Levin but made by a carpanter in Húsavík Iceland were my grandmother grew up.
Sadly I didn't learn how to play that guitar, but used it like toy pretending to be a rock star 8) which explains the poor state that the guitar is in.
But one afternoon after the banking crash in Iceland, I was having a disscusion with my mom and my sister, about money, and found out that my mom always dreamed about putting me to a music school to learn the guitar, but my parents never could afford it, (my dad lost his job when my mom was pregnant with my sister and it took us eleven years just to get back to zero, but there was always food on the table), after that I made it my new years reloution to learn the guitar. So in mid january in 2009 I bought the Fender CD-60 and joined the forum. Even more sadly I am still learning the basics  .

Mine was a Cortez Classical guitar from around 1970. I'd sure like to know where it is now.

My first experience with a guitar was one of my mom's boyfriend's classical acoustic. I really was too young to remember the brand name. My first electric guitar was a mid 80's white Strat copy, no name on the headstock. It looked and felt like a Strat (at least to me at the time). The headstock was also shaped like a Fender Strat. I sold that and bought a white and black Jackson V. I really consider that guitar as my first quality instrument.

My first electric was a Stagg Tele copy, a piece of crap which almost put me off electrics. Then I found a MIM Fender Strat in midnight blue, it used to turn purple  It was an amazing guitar, I wish I had never sold it now

I then moved up to a 65 Red Fender Mustang with a Silvertone twin 12 reverb/tremolo amp. I wish I still had them all!! :(

Commander, a Strat copy by Lyon, which is by Washburn. I still have him and love him, but right now the high E string is broken, so I need to get a new pack of strings for him.... :P

Hop, I know just what you mean. Every time I get the urge to thin the herd I am now able to talk myself out of it. Sometimes it is still a battle.
