Go into 'Dick's Last Resort' or the 'Purple Shamrock' some night and see how wild it is. No "dead air' between songs.

Put a listing on http://www.bostonbands.com and http://www.zbands.com/

Thanks Mike, thats awesome. Didn't know about these sites. Just got back into music and playing guitar in 2006. The computor and web, my daughter took care of. Guess I'm still living in the 70's. Glad I checked this forum. Great crew here with alot of insight. :D

Dutchy,
Bring your best (or borrow) a good PA for St. Michael's
and get everyone you can to come to the gig.
The hall is a freakin' shoebox acoustically & a good set-up/ soundcheck
earlier will make you guys sound great.
As the crowd gets thicker all you'll have to do is turn-up the mains only.

If the gig is open to the public, I'll try to stop by.
Relax & enjoy yourself, I'm sure it'll be a great gig.

Vin

Thanks Vin, Were actually playing on tha bar side, never knew there was a bar there. They heard us play a couple months ago, and asked if we could gig there once a month. Hopefully I'll meet you on Fri. It's open to the public, The entrance is in the rear alley, behind the Hall. :)

Dutchy, all of the feed back is on, these Bros Of The Forum are a great help. I tried to think of stuff that could help, but, our band isn't getting booked every weekend either, so, I tried to think of what some other busy bands have in their favor, and most of them (the popular bar bands) are cover bands and all of the cover songs are spot on, they have management, asking the successful bar bands you know who their management is and doing a little research and interviewing the management while they are interviewing you can help you find the right one. Those pay to play outfits are heartless hacks meaning they only care about their money and nothing else they have approached us and we have always said no, the only part about that is say no in a nice way, things have a way of changing with out any notice so you have to keep the lines of communication open. Niki had the best advice about recording a demo, the better it sounds the less likely it will end up in the circular file. Good luck with your band stuff, break a leg at the gig, being a successful band will happen so play on Bro 8)

Thanks Bro, Great crew here with excellent tips. I just love to play out, money is just a bonus, if it covers gas, I'm happy. :D I've played many benefits and bike runs with my old band the Bluez Doctorz Review, It's the fun and experience for me. After 25 years of not playing, I started again in 2006. Still can't read, not even tabs. But learning, I didn't know what a 1,4,5 was till I started going to blues jams. I'm slowly learning and having fun too!!! :)

Dutchy,
Congrats on the gig & yes, I'm very familiar with the bar side there.
I, too, took a 12 year hiatus from playing out & it was amazing how
much of my "soul" was missing during that time. It is so cool to be
"back in front of the amp".

I'll do my best to try to stop by & in the meantime ask about an old friend
of mine nicknamed "Ehmons, Right On, Right On".
He's a great Gretsch drummer, and the "entertainer" of the old band. 8)

Vin

In this area most Pubs/bars ask that you have a home made cd of your band. And maybe some flyers with the band on it would help. Good luck and dont give up.
