I so want to use a regular pick, i try but i fail every single time cause of my stuffed up right hand. As some of you may know, I'm using a customed pick, a old peice of patractor strapped onto a pick, and I really need help with what I should do. Should I just make some more of the custom picks that i can hold, or keep on trying with the normal ones?

Have you ever tried finger picks? I'm not privy to how your hand is having issues so I'm not in a position to guess what you really might need.

Always keep a pick in your wallet. It's also a good way to pick up chicks, by keeping a pick in your wallet it shows the that your are so passionate about playing guitar :D

Riley I was going to say try a thumb pick. Now just stick with it and you can get that hybrid picking going.

Thanks, the only problem is that on swetty days it slips off, even with the blu tack....But I'm working on that.

I've never used it, so I can't verify if it works or not, but, there's this stuff called "Gorilla Snot" I think(?), it supposedly helps you keep a grip on picks better. My understanding is that it makes you fingertips sorta tacky, allowing for a better grip. I don't know how effective it would be with sweaty hands and a thumbpick, though.

I have noticed that you can get Ibanez picks with rubber and sand grips

Are you just having trouble gripping the pick? I was reading about these a while back and it may help:
http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/ZeroGravity-Orbit-Pick?sku=110100

Otherwise i had a friend who was having gripping issues and he started out using finger picks, then moved to regular picks but he would use a glue stick to coat where he would grip it. Practice made perfect, he stopped using glue, and now he can play without losing picks.

Ever hear of " V Picks " ? Their suppose to get sticky as your hand warms them up and prevents you from dropping them.

When I bought my Strat 2½ months ago I got three Martin 0.73mm picks with it.

Within about 5 minutes of starting to practice they would all be on the floor.

Now I can strum for at least 30 minutes before dropping one. Also, I like the feel of the Fender mediums a lot better. 8)

If I drop the pick it is in the first 15 min of warm up after that sweat helps them stick better and the hand relaxes enough to grip it properly.

If you drop the picks constantly it is most likely due to the:
1. too much sweat (you can fix that with some powder or just relax)
2. your technique might not be proper for your custom pick (try to change your attack angle or try many different regular picks, try a bass pick-large triangle ones)
3. you need to relax your picking/strumming hand a bit (play from the wrist rather from the elbow)

Hope that helps
