I sure didn't recognise many of them - and didn't like the rest! So I asked my 18 year old son what was on his ipod and got this:

AC/DC, Jimmy Barnes, Guns 'n' Roses, Jet <= That's my boy!
Jimmy Eat World, Gorillaz, The Last Goodnight <= Could be worse - nothing from the list anyways...

I have to admit that I like being able to buy a song at a time, particularly now that the tracks are higher quality and most of the digital rights copy protection is gone. I'm sure most of us, ahem, older members remember buying albums with one or two good songs with the rest being filler.

I know the times have changed but I really miss my old favorite brick and mortar music stores. There aren't many left now. There are only a few independents scattered around the Phoenix area and the music sections of the corporate stores are shrinking in favor of DVDs. Oh well.

John

try newburry comics...... weird store but great for music..... also, when you download things like nirvana, Led Zeppelin, and any other real music, be careful of crappy remixing

That's why I want YOU to start writing and making the right kind of music for your generation.
I know you got it in you, Floyd! Take that angst and anger and use it! I believe in you.

quote:

"weeping guitar said...

what happened to real music? we're in trouble as a society if these are the most popular "songs". i hope one day people will learn to think with the rest of their brains rather than their lubido. Maybe they'll realize there is more to music than what they hear on The Hills and MTV (aka the other BET). *GASP* maybe we'll see more artists who actually WRITE THEIR OWN MUSIC! (i said "more", i know there are some already here. its not enough). We are a nation of puppets. This is a nation where pop music is a cheap processed commodity, comprised of MSG and hydrogenated oil, monopolizing the airwaves and being forcefully fed into our mouths. Popular music is no longer about art. Art doesn't sell. That's why i mourn for our society."
