FMIC is in business to make money. If JM's alleged racism were to affect sales then they might have reason to rethink the association. Otherwise, not so much.

That's why they call it DOPE!

Some things are better left unsaid. Expressing one's personal honesty may not always be the best policy. Live and learn.

I think it is absurd how ridiculously sensitive america has gotten over the years. People should be able to be how they are, and there should be nothing wrong with that OR especially ILLEGAL or have any repercussions other than social IMO. It would then help us all know and understand people, so I know who to like and not like instead of people knowing they "have to be nice for now" until the camera is off. So really their just foolin me.

"Hey thats a nice guy", when really he is not. See America's super sensitive politically correct paranoia is MAKING people be FAKE, and that aint cool cause they hide in a "I'm cool" shell when they really are not. Then I may be hanging out with some a-hole and not know it. Screw that. Please bluntly tell the world how you feel so we all know where you stand. Its all good man.

I say right on for John M blurting out like that. Its human is what it is, and its how he feels. Just like a black dude should be able to blurt out how he hates white c.r.a..k.e.r, trailer trash honkeys if he really does. So be it, its life. And neither should be punished over it.

I say Tiger Woods, R-Kelly, John Mayer, etc.. should not lose any fans or endorsements over crap like what they did/do. Its so, "not our business" really. What is our business is judging whether or not they have god given talent at what they do or not. Period. They are not selling churches or morals, they are selling TALENT. Nuff said !!

And while your at it BRING BACK BILL CLINTON !!! We need some sex in the Blanco House !! Yet another misguided sensitive reaction from america.

(and BTW in reality if you get REAL deep with it, the N-word is not a racist remark. There are white "N-words", black "N-words", Chinese "N-words", Latin "N-Words", etc... "N-Word" does not mean color or a race, it means ignorant and arrogant, etc.. So theres a "N-Word" in every color (get it ?). The famous black Muslim leader Farakahn actually describes it as such, AND uses the word to this day to describe ignorant people. The rest of america just needs to wake up now and quit trying to do "what they think is right". They are always like 20 years behind reality, I swear.)

Someone should do a telethon to pay for, and install, dark curtains in all the glass houses, make a Constitutional Ammendment to repeal free speech, and provide electro shock theropy for any indavidual who don't think the way someone else does.
Maybe we could have the telethon hosted by Axle Rose, Rev Sharpton, Rev Jackson, Mel Gibson, the Super Grand Wizzard of the Klan, Rosy O"Donnell, and Flavor Flave. (Now that's entertainment)
Fact is, there is some sort of prejudice in each and every one of us. AND, it'll be there till the end of time. It's a human frailty, and it ain't gonna go away, unless we are all inbred and all look, sound, smell, sing off key, and think alike. Even then there would still be male and female. Not saying that that is a good thing, but it is what it is.
I am, for the most part, Caucasion with about twenty-five percent Cherokee, and I know there must be some African American in there some place cause I have a great sense of rhythm - White people clap on one and three- and have you taken note of how most white guys dance? Mercy!!! So let John keep his endorsements, it won't hurt you. ......unless you want to take his place. And good luck doing that!

Agreed. The last time I looked, racism isn't against the law. Further, if we're to have PC sensitivity cops watching our every move, we're all on a very slippery $@!&# indeed.

As to the original question, I don't care whether Fender endorses him or not...it has no bearing upon my life, or my ability to choose a musical instrument for myself. With that said, rest assured that if Mr. Mayer starts to hurt profits at Fender, he'll disappear faster than a pitcher of martinis at the Kennedy compound.

I have been very supportive of JM in the past. Unfortunately, whatever I thought of him he has shown he is human. In making such an error he has to know that it has offended a large core of his african american market as well as a lot of women. I guess I'll pass it off as the inexperience of youth.
Having lived as long as I have has shown me the more you put confidence in an individual the more you are likely to be disappointed. JM has let down folks way before this and is likely to do it again. Live and let Live
The truest statement that I've read is that we all have some form of racism in us ,however we just don't have the notoriety that propels it into the mass media. Live and let Live. He truly seems to have turned into an egotistical jerk...

+1 on the egotistical comment. I think that snobbery is as bad as racism in a lot of ways. It's just another form of prejudice. :!:

Everyone says stupid things at some point.
I'm not a big JM fan anyway, so I don't care what he says or does. If Fender doesn't care either, that's fine with me.

IMHO, If things get to a point where you actually have to say "I am NOT racist!", you most certainly are.

IMHO, people tend to make way too much out of the actions, and what comes out of the mouths of celebrities. It's always Dr, Phil says....... or Opra says........ Hey, they are just people, and they have moments of mental incontinance like everyone else. It isn't their fault that the press hangs on their every drunken, drooling, illogical, and sometimes immoral word, just to sell newspapers and air time. If you think about it, the "Press", due to their desire to report every time some famous person has a bowel movement, and its weight and shade of ....well, never mind, causes far more misery in the world than the act of the person they're tattling on. Sometimes I think we have a little too much freedom, and it usually ends up biting some innocent on the six. Common sence should rule but somehow seldom does.
Also we should change "the GOLDEN RULE" to read-

"DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU - [b]OR YOU WILL BE TIED TO A TREE AND BEATEN BLOODY........... AND SET ON FIRE ...................AND THEN THE FIRE WILL BE STOMPED OUT BY LARGE SWEATY SCANTILY CLAD WOMEN WEARING HIGH HEELS AND SMOKING CIGARS"

b]...../////just a thought

The only question I have is about the sensitivity of the races to words and phrases. That said, the word I'm referring to of course, is the "N" word. I don't use it. To me it is offensive, and is meant to piss off the person on the recieving end. I understand why African Americans are unfuriated by it. (When spoken by anyone other than a black person) My one burning question about this is why is it used so much by some black folks when they are speaking to one another? I'm sure others have this question , and I'm also sure that our questioning it is not going to slow down or stop it's use by either race.
