My brother in law lived in Wangaratta (not far from Benalla) for a couple of years and the heat there was just brutal. He just fitted the biggest airconditioner he could find to his 2 bedroom home. I reckon it could have kept a small factory cool. I just couldn't believe how cold it would also get in winter though...

Wangarata's a nice town, we go down there quite often.
Unfortuanatley we have one of the most suckiest air cons in the history of man kind....

Similar to what someone earlier posted about water mist. Get yourself a squirt bottle and set it to as fine a spray as possible. Mist it onto your arms and face then sit in front of a fan. Not too much on your arms if you're playing guitar at the same time of course... :)

I'm in Brisbane - it rarely gets as hot as SA, but riding a pushbike to and from work every day makes me appreciate what we spent on air con.

It's funny talking about heat right now, it's in the 50s (F) now. That would be about 10 degrees Celsius. And it actually snowed this year, and last year!

In the summer it can reach about 105 degrees (F) or 40 (C). The humidity is what gets to you though, we're more like Louisiana than Texas in that way. And unlike in the desert, the temperature doesn't fall very far at night. But I don't really ever remember it being that uncomfortable. When I was little we'd go outside in the morning, take a break at around three in the afternoon, and then return in the evening. Sometimes we'd stay out all day in the summer, but we'd just sit in the garage sipping kool-aid during the worst of the heat.

Our A/C was broken last August, and that was pretty bad because there was just no break from the heat day or night. And when we were in Austin in July it was well into the 100s, but it was a dry heat. We coped with it by climbing mountains in the middle of the day. Which was sort of a bad idea looking back, but the rest of my family wasn't particularly excited by my idea of spending the afternoon at Guitar Center.

Hey, Riley- I'm in Arizona. It's bee-you-tee-ful right now. But from June through September, it's like a convection oven. Walkin from your car to your home is like walking through radiation.
I crawl around in peoples crawl spaces doing lighting and things.

I think I may have cut a few years off my life doing this. Cant do it anymore.....

Guit,
I will gladly trade with you!! Here in south Georgia in the summers it gets in the low 100's with 85% humidity. I can't wait to retire to the Adirondack mountains and have the cold and snow once again! You will only be a few hours away from me we will have to jam!!

I live in South Florida where it can be in the 90s with 95% humidity around 8-9 months of the year. From May 1 to Nov 30, we watch the weather every night as this is hurricane season; in other words, don't move here...it sucks
That's what A/C was invented for.
