Couldn't agree more. I know it isn't part of the design, but it looks tacky. And the ones that aren't trimmed correctly are just as bad, maybe even worse, 'cause those are the ones that'll stick ya.

Shadowgrass I must take exception to you refering to the Beatles as"the world's greatest boy band"no other musicians in history have launched or sowed the seeds for as many guitarists. No other performers in history have had as many of their songs covered. Each one in his own right was an excellent guitarist.I am more apt to go along with a revered conductor (Aurthur Feidler of the Boston Pops)who described them as modern day Mozarts than to take you at your word as this man was a brilliant musician who recognized gifted composers when he saw them. Many of the worlds best symphony orchestras have recorded orchestral arrangements of Lennon,McCartney and Harrison songs. How many of your compositions have had the same success? For you to say that you don't like F hole guitars any more because John Lennon used one speaks volumes of your level of maturity and by dismissing the Beatles as being on the level of the Backstreet Boys and their ilk speaks volumes of your knowledge of music and composition.I would imagine I'm not the only one whose hackles you've raised as many forum members and musicians the world over owe a huge debt of gratitude to John,Paul,George and Ringo for setting them on the path to a lifetime of playing and loving music.

1) The V design. Really ugly looking IMO.

2) People who paint their guitars with tacky neon colors such as hot pink and lime green.

3) Stupid slogans etched on the guitar, usually of a political nature: *BLEEP* THE GOVERNMENT, ANARCHY, etc.

4) Headless guitars. Look like washtub guitars.

I find this thread slanderous to those who oblige to Floyd trems

1, Road Worn.

2, Over-priced Gibsons.

3, Black pickguards on black guitars.

4, White Strats

5, Doubleneck guitars

The Customshop doing too much relic and NOS and not enough really cool stuff like they used to

I hate pointy guitars, but for some reason I like these BC Rich Mockingbirds that slash uses:

I didn't take exception to shadowgrass3's comment. In fact, I just laughed because it just came across to me as oh-too-cool, pretentious and uninformed. The Beatles' contributions to the world of popular music are obvious and many. Don't be taken in by someone who's clearly just looking to elicit a strong reaction. 8)

I'm not surprised to have raised a few hackles with that comment. The fact that I was being facetious in my comments on f-hole guitars has quite obviously escaped your grasp, sir. The Beatles made use of some very fine equipment during their brief career, and I don't make a habit of basing my personal gear choices, either inclusive or exclusive, upon the whimsy of what so-and-so used. As to the quality of the "Fab Four" musicians and compositions, I will have to respectfully disagree with you. I will do so without questioning your maturity or casting any other slings in your direction, nor will I point out that Beatle-mania is largely a generational phenomenon, which doesn't necessarily preclude the notion that just because one is not a Beatles fan has no significance in determining one's knowledge (or appreciation) of music. My level of maturity is quite above that, kind sir, and if we can't have a little fun, then I will no longer burden fellow posters with any of my light-hearted jokes.
After all, you wouldn't see me get upset if anyone postulated the ludicrous theory that Clapton is not, after all, God.

Dudes, seriously, you make one little joke about one little band. No sense of humor.

I agree! I also don't like the looks of hot-rod pickups or mini-humbuckers. :?

This is cathartic. 8)

Cathartic? Yes and no.

I'm also finding it scary. Almost everything I DO like about guitars has also been named on this thread...

I do like the look of Lace Sensors... Oops!

Quite the contrary, shadowgrass3. I have a hell of a sense of humor. :) But you admit yourself that you knew what you were doing with your comment:
shadowgrass3 wrote:

Let's look at some of the other things you mention in your reply to guitslinger:
shadowgrass3 wrote:
The Beatles ... brief career

This comment, along with the "one little band" barb in your rejoinder to me, exemplifies perfectly the oh-too-cool attitude I'm referring to. Yes, the Beatles existed as a band only for about eight or nine years. However, surely you can acknowledge the profound impact they had on music during their time together. What other band from that time or since has been as influential--especially in such a short amount of time?
shadowgrass3 wrote:

I think you're confusing Beatlemania (i.e. fan reaction) with the musical contributions of Lennon, McCartney and Harrison. Beatlemania, with its screaming girls and other fan madness, is what caused the group to retreat to the studio, where they evolved from the mop-topped lads from Liverpool to a true artistic juggernaut. They pioneered many recording techniques that are still in use today and invented the modern concept of a rock band. If they had just kept on singing "She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah," they might indeed have been merely a "boy band" that went the way of the Sparkletones or Billy Joe and the Checkmates. You probably don't even have an opinion on those two groups. But you do have an opinion on the Beatles--it's because they matter.

You don't have to like the Beatles. You can even hate the Beatles if they're not your cup of tea. Everyone has different musical likes and dislikes. I consider myself a fan, but there are plenty of their songs I don't like--particularly a lot of the early stuff and most of George's flirtations with Indian music. But to deny their importance in musical history is simply unsupportable in my opinion.
shadowgrass3 wrote:

C'mon, don't threaten to take your ball and go home just because someone called BS on something you wrote. It's a discussion forum. Discuss. But it's a little unfair to lob a grenade and then accuse people of having no sense of humor if they don't automatically agree with you. We're all friends here, and we want to hear people's opinions. But you need to be able to support your argument if you say something so contrary to what most people believe. Perhaps you could even start a new thread explaining why you believe the Beatles were not as revolutionary or influential as most people think. Cool? 8)

 Now, back to the topic at hand: I also don't like guitars with Florentine cutaways.

Wildly agree with complete disgust of "new-made-pre-worn" guitars, jeans, shirts, sneakers...

...poseur stuff...

(insert here pre-vomit noises)

...whoever said, "you didn't earn it"...

...to you, AMEN!

And to those tempted to get one, please get something new and shiny and wear it naturally, yourself.

1. Guitars with now headstock - Steinbergers etc.

2. Inverted Headstock.... even though i owned one and really miss it, i would have rather it just had a properly orientated headstock

3. Unclipped strings at the machine heads

4. Stickers

5. Distressed guitars. The Jaco bass is the worst example of this.

6. Overly pointy guitars. With the exception of a Jackson King V... that one is kinda cool though I cant see ever owning one.
