1. Pre-CBS headstocks
2. point tremolos that are not double locking
3. guitars with all the paint intact
4. single coils
5. curvey headstocks
6. black dots

Not really...but some of the things you cannot stand is something some one else likes. I am just glad Fender makes a bunch of different models to appeal to just about everyone.

I thought you were serious until you said "guitars with all the paint intact."

Another thing I can't stand on a guitar? Frets. If you can't play without them, you obviously don't need to be playing. :P

Agreed...but to each their own

2) Humbuckers on Strats

As I do not like anything but Strats, I have to have one in my inventory with a bucker for my harder stuff I like to play.

3) Floyd Rose bridges on Strats

Depends on what I am trying to play. Play Eruption and You Really Got Me on your Strat without a Floyd and stay in tune. However, I am veering away from Floyd Rose Tremolos as I get older though.

4) Extra, unecessary pickups. Like on those three pickup Teles.

And I bet you do not like HH Strats either. Come on, people need variety with their guitars to make them their own instrument. To be able to make their own sound.

5) '70's Headstocks on Strats (or Teles! )

I take it you do not like 70's bands either?

6) Pickguards or pickup covers that don't match the finish or other aesthetic elements

To each their own. OOOH...Let's all play cookie cutter guitars!

Again I am glad FMIC makes a variety of guitars to appeal to a lot of different people.

Wow I must be tired. Off to bed.

The Fender Jag-Stang. :?

This guitar is so ugly it makes me want to scream. Compared to the graceful, elegant curves and perfect proportions of the Stratocaster, Telecaster, Jazzmaster and--hell--just about every other guitar Fender makes, this monstrosity is awkward, freakish and downright ugly. It looks like a cartoon drawn by someone who doesn't know what guitars are supposed to look like. I hate hate hate the Jag-Stang.

Thank you. 8)

That's funny. I thought that the first time I saw it, too. But then again all the short-scale fender look kind of funny to me. Especially the ones with the CBS headstocks. My opinion on that particular travesty of guitar aesthetics may have been mentioned on this thread.....

Must have missed your point - don't be so subtle next time!

not to be a jerk, but thats quite a foolish statement..... there are certainly grunge songs that are more than power chords, and just because somone can shred does not mean they can't be into grunge

+1
That was a pretty dumb statement (not to be mean), i still play lots of other genres including country, classical, folk and that, so how come if you learn to play it you wont be into grunge anymore? I dont know.....

Think he played it much?

At least Martin isn't offering it as a Signature model - can you imagine a wall full of them at the music store? All beat up the same and with the same hole?

Some of you might hate me for saying this, but I can't stand the Road Worn series Strats or Teles. I'm sure they play and sound great, but why buy something that's been made to look beat up already? It's like you didn't earn it, you know? blah

I really wish they would put out a guitar with a set of features like the Road Worns, you know, big frets, thicker necks, Kluson-style keys, better pickups, etc. without beating the hell out of the paint job and rusting them.

And maybe a CBS headstock? Seem to recall reading that you were fond of them!

I didn't take exception to shadowgrass3's comment. In fact, I just laughed because it just came across to me as oh-too-cool, pretentious and uninformed. The Beatles' contributions to the world of popular music are obvious and many. Don't be taken in by someone who's clearly just looking to elicit a strong reaction. 8)

Dudes, seriously, you make one little joke about one little band. No sense of humor.

I'll admit it - I'm not a big Beatles fan. I really like some of their songs and I really dislike others. They put out so many songs in so many different styles that it would be pretty much impossible to like (or dislike) all of them. But boy band? They wrote alot of their own music and played their own instruments. When I think boy band I think of a music label finding 4 or 5 kids that can hold a note and dance around. Then they provide them with some songs and either a soundtrack or a stage band and tell them how they want them to work it. But if a group doesn't play an instrument, can it really be called a band. So maybe the Beatles really were a boy band(but not in a bad way) - they were young, the girls went wild over them, and they played their own instuments.

Well, at one time they were young... But, like the Beatles if I were to refer to them as a boy band it wouldn't be in a negative way. They write music and play intruments. Comparing them them to the Backstreet Boys would be like comparing the Spice Girls to the Bangles. Well, close anyway.

I saw a rare video of Kurt practising in his room with a strat and a small amp- and to be honest he was pretty good if I must say. The thing was, his playing kind of reflected a little of the punk era.. no glitsy solos, no glamour. It was raw, and it couldnt have gotten anymore. He was someone that was against the beaten path, both personally and musically. That is why he sounded the way he did, and that is why he had many personal issues.

You cannot discount players like Jerry Cantrell, Stone Gossard, Mike McCready and Kim Thyall from Soundgarden as being unable to play because they were grunge..
Even Dave Grohl was able to take what was left of the era and incorporate that into the Foo Fighters :)

That's a great point. Some of those guys can really throw down, and they inspired countless people to pick up and play. No disrespect intended to guys like Cobain, but they show that you don't have to be a virtuoso to make great music.

At first, this thread seemed like harmless fun.
Then someone says they don't like all white Stratocasters...
I've got an all white Stratocaster!
Next, someone says they don't like humbuckers on Strats...
I've got humbuckers on my Strat!
What's next? Rosewood fretboards!?!

I can take a hint...screw you guys, I'm going home! :P
