A few years ago I had the pleasure of seeing Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown in a small club venue. Got to shake his hand and had him autograph a cassette which he sold (along with T-Shirts, button, etc.) between sets. He's an incredible artist, as well. Even played his fiddle.[/quote]

I heard Clarence play electric blues fiddle on What's Shakin'. He only did it once that I saw, but he just tore it up. :)

Hideaway was my favorite SRV song until I found out Freddie King was actually the one who wrote it.

Other than a couple of people who's last name is Vaughan, Freddie King has probably had one of the biggest impacts on me and the way I play than anyone else. I've always loved guitar instrumentals, and I try and throw a Freddie King instrumental into the set whenever I can. And I'm sure I wouldn't have won the King of the Blues contest (in Houston) had it not been for Freddie King's influence. I approached the whole thing like I was playing a Freddie King song.

I think one of the reasons we don't mention him enough is that since this is a Fender message board we tend to talk more about people who play Fenders. But for Freddie King we should make an exception. :D

I know, he was a Gibson 335 man, wasn't he...
Shhh, don't tell Fender but, I intend on getting one myself
one day when I get a lot more bread :P

Although, he recorded his big hit Hideaway on a Les Paul!
