George Harrison "Rocky"Strat and a G.H. Rosewood Tele.Of course there would have to be a Guitslinger '65 sunburst Strat with a rosewood fretboard lol.Instead of the Rocky Strat they could put out John & George 61 Strats in Sonic Blue which was Rocky's original colour and that would be much cheaper to produce.

My personal opinion is that they have been overdone. Some have models made for them that do not deserve it.

i couldn't agree with you more! i think they should put a moratorium on signature models for 5 years. there's way too many models. Instead of making a sig model with some exclusive features they should offer some of those features as options in the existing lines. like a hardtail that doesn't have someones name on the guitar.

I believe Forum user Martian has been quietly awaiting this honor for a long time. Frankly, he deserves it more than most...

I think that might be your job Ceri!

+1 I buy stock because it is my signature model...if I can't make my guitar sound good for my style then I don't need to get someone else's sig guitar..:)

+1 on the Izzy Tele. A hybrid of his 62 and 72.

From what I've read, Buddy left his Stratocaster completely stock. One of the Vintage 50's Strats is essentially a Buddy Holly Stratocaster.

See this link:
http://www.buddyhollyandthecrickets.com/guitar.html

I think Sig models should only go to artists with heavily modified or really unique equipment (like the Sonic Youth Jazzmasters or George Harrison's Rosewood Tele). Otherwise, I really don't see the point.

We had a big big thread in the custom shop (or was it ask mike?) on a Jeff Healey CS Squier, which i think would make it the coolest CS guitar ever.

I couldn't agree more. Besides, I've yet to see any celebrity play the identical, "off the rack"' signature models that are sold to the general public. I even remember Clapton once saying that he wanted his signature guitar to be the same as those offered to every player. Well, he too got over that real quick with his highly figured necks of late.

And then there's a whole other ilk who simply played contemporary stock guitars. With Strats for example, Hendrix, Winwood, Holly, etc. How, all of a sudden do they or would they concoct a signature model for these people from as we say in the trade, a 'cots' (commercial, off the shelf) item? Even Trower always played cots 70s Strats back in the day. How? No problem! Use an off-color pickguard, change the pickups, reroute a tone pot wire, switch some bridge saddles, throw in some strap locks maybe, add $3K onto the price of a 70s RI Strat and bang, there you have it! Oh, and don't forget the C of A, that justifies the $3K hike for sure!!

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.
