So many people talk about Rory around here that I decided to pick up a copy of "Irish Tour" and all I can say is WOW! I can't stop listening to this album. Rory's style is very raw and I love it. They did a great job of capturing the "live" feel too.

Any one else a fan?

You need to get "Rory Gallagher Live at Montreux"
Incredible performances. He's been my favorite guitarist of all time since 1970 and my inspiration to get my Strat in 72.

My knowledge of Rory Gallagher is limited to knowing he has a Custom Relic strat and a small article I read a ways back. I may have to check this film out as I am on a concert DVD kick- 8)

Part of what I've enjoyed about playing guitar is the artists that I've stumbled across and the wealth of talented musicians that I have become aware of. Rory Gallagher is definitely one of them. Awesome stuff. I've listened to music all of my life yet I feel like I never truly appreciated it until I picked up a guitar myself.

You enter a different world as you start to understand music on a more than superficial level.

I saw Rory live at our local university in the mid 70s,he was simply amazing,so fluid and just raw sweet Strat tones from a couple of old AC30s.I don't think he used any stomp boxes at all,if he did it was only a basic overdrive or some kind of signal booster. His live version of They Don't Make 'em Like You Any More was worth the price of admission. He played almost all the tracks from Bluesprint and Tattoo.People could still learn a lot listening to this Stratomaster.

Many many musicians are legends and without them the world would be a poorer place.

Rory Gallagher was such a person, a shy introvert who brought it all to the stage, part of the reason so many loved his music and way of thinking about the business.

RIP Rory ... died June 14th 1995

You've got a lot of CDs to catch up with! Have fun listening. Get some from his earlier band, Taste, too. You can find many live shows to download for free.

I would recommend both "Stage Struck" and the BBC Sessions.
