I've been using Teese wahs for years now with no problems at all.

Miami Mike got it right, the Teese RMC is the closest you can get to the original Vox Clyde McCoy wah and doesn't cost $1000 like a Clyde would today. They are a bit pricey but the quality is way beyond any others. Fulltone also makes a great wah pedal,if I was going to buy a new wah these would be my top choices followed by Cry Baby Buddy Guy or the Vox wah I believe the model No. is 837.

Did you read the interview with Geoffrey Teese in Premier Guitar mag?
Seems like he knows more about wahs than anyone else alive right now.

No I didn't see that, what issue was it in?I know that he has an encyclopedic knowledge of wah history and construction,I imagine the interview must be extremely interesting.

I like wah pedals, had one for a few months back in '68 but this one has some crrrazzzyyy capability's the six string sounds amazing (tried it with a Strat at my Bros pawn shop) plug in your bass though and you won't want to stop experimenting with it

I use a Dunlop original Cry Baby ... pretty no frills for the classic Wah sound. That said, I should also point out that I don't use it much and when I do, I'm playing classic rock (that included a wah) or funk.

Whammy bars are mounted on the guitars bridge so it allows you to change the note or chord's pitch.

Wah pedals sweep a certain frequency range for a crying or talking effect.

Sound samples or a wah pedal:

The Dunlop/Custom Audio Electronics MC-404 Wah seems highly regarded around the place at the moment... worth a look.

I have been getting more mileage from an Envelope Filter (DOD 440 in my case) lately, for what it's worth. I had never given them much thought, but they're a lot of fun. The "wah" effect is dependent mostly on your pick attack, which I feel makes it more intuitive to use... one less item to co-ordinate...

I'm loving the Fulltone Clyde wah, I've never heard a better one new or vintage. But I'm sure the Teese is just as good from what I've read. True there are a heap of other cool tonal modulation effects to play with now and a lot of players have moved on from wah - but I'm still getting juice out of it.

I just love that it's actually played with my foot, not an automated envelope follower. So every wah player sounds a bit different. I love that you can find a harmonic to feed back over just about any note you're holding, and that you can do that Mick Ronson thing of leaving it somewhere in mid sweep for a cool filtered nasal tone. Aw, who am I kidding... I just love Wah. 8)
