I'll go with Gary Cherone.

I said Sammy. Dave is clearly a better vocalist but he's also a major, major screw-up and Sammy can at least play an instrument. Dave is an accident looking for a place to happen. Cherone wasn't a good fit.

Truth be told it doesn't really matter who sings anymore. Now that Eddie has sobered up he'll micro manage the band into oblivion. He's not happy until everyone else is not happy. It might sound mean but I liked him better when he was a drunk. At least they were writing songs and making records and doing concerts. His obsession with finding his vision of perfection is ruining all their careers.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Gary gets a bad rap. VH III was actually a pretty good album, and he was AMAZING live with Van Halen.

Definitely Dave. Sammy's good, but Van Halen was best with Dave. And drunk Eddie.

Can't vote since there's no "both" option. When I think of Van Halen, I think of the debut album with Dave, but I also love what Sammy brought.

How's that for fence-sitting!?

Fence sitting? Thats almost like cheating  Gary was a good vocalist I really liked him in Extreme. Didn't get to catch him live In VH only on youtube. Thought he was good on thttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5gvBHQsWNshe older stuff as well.

Is Dave still a paramedic?
Can you imagine needing emergency medical help and Dave scissors kicks his way out of the back of an ambulance!
