6" is awful? Barely a dusting!

I know we're clear now... this is my back yard about a month ago. My motorcycles are in the man hut (mini barn.) There's about 18" of snow in the yard in this photo.

I feel for ya CV. I love snow, but the amount you poor bastids are getting in such a short time is terrible. Right now we don't have much snow on the ground, and out west the fear is there won't be enough snow in the mountains for the Olympic events.

I hope you have a nice grade in your yard, or you may want to look into hauling away some of that snow. A few years back we got a couple really big dumps. we're sort of at the foothills of the rockies, so we get some nice big snowstorms. Where i lived was on a big hilltop, so i was fine, but where my brother lives is really flat. We hauled snow out of his yard and discretely dumped it in a park  . So when the 6 to 7 foot snow piles everyone had started melting all his neighbors had to deal with basement flooding.

Been there, done that, but up here in the great white it is all brown.

Now if you want snow, in Whistler, the apline events for the Olympics, have had 32 feet, yes, 32 feet of snow, should be enough. There are web cams at www.whistlerblackcomb.com if you want to see snow.

snowboard type events are a different matter, they are trucking in, and bringing snow in by helicopter.

Same deal here in South Jersey. I've spent 3 days off and on shoveling out cars, the driveway, etc. This morning I had the thrill of yanking snow off my roof and all over me. What fun. If it's going to be this globally warm from now on I'll have to look into a snow blower. The sky is dark grey now and chapter two should be beginning shortly. To think I moved down here from New Hampshire to get away from this crap. Good luck with your share.

We got 8" - 10" on Sunday night / Monday. The thing about snow here (not unlike Canada) is when it is on the ground it typically stays there and piles up until springtime. Not much melting going at this time of year. We probably have 12" to 15" on the ground and 4 - 5 foot mounds along side the driveway.

Thanks so much SolidBody, 12-15 inches and 20-30 mile an hour winds. NYC school system is closed for the day, that NEVER happens.
