I enjoyed seeing the Fender gear. The show was OK considering. The stage was maybe the coolest I've ever seen. IMHO I never thought The Who was all that great especially Pete Townsend. He should be in prison for all the amps, Strats and Teles he's torn up.

Jaknzax,Pete Townshend although maybe not a great technical guitarist has influenced legions of guitarists who grew up in the 60s,including me,he had such an inimitatable rhytym style that many have tried to emulate but none have been able to duplicate. All one has to do is listen to music they created in their heyday,I Can See For Miles for example is the quintessential hard driving rock song from that era, even his lead break that's basically just one hammer on is so raw and agressive and powerful that I never tire of hearing it.Their Woodstock performance and Live at Leeds will go down in the annals of rock history as among the greatest live performances of the time largely due to Pete's pounding guitar style.I think I would find a lot of people on my side of the fence.

I was very impressed that it did not contain a live audience on the field and/or a bunch of choreographed dancers with flags, streamers, and/or props dancing around.

And no disrespect for the Who, but the NFL-SuperBowl Halftime shows have just been kind of bland ever since the boob!e incident because they are trying to play it safe and protect us from the horrific object known as the naked female breast.

Yes, it was not the Who at their sharpest. But I would much rather see that than some crap like Jessica Simpson or something ...

I didn't see the performance myself, but I find it difficult to believe they were "horrible" "awful" etc. Beats any of the teeniebopper acts kicking about, I'll watch the re run of the game later this afternoon. I'll reserve judgement for now

The boys did great for being nearly 70. I'd rather see real rockers playing real music, than see some popstar hop around an lip sync any day.

tough to get up and play in a short amount of time. more time given, they probably would have blown everyone away.

had to jump in on this one.my opinion on this is its a rock and roll thing.
everybody jumps on the who,stones,kiss,etc.etc. because they are old"rock".
its has to be what everybody remembers rock to be,youth, rebellion and energy.now that the bands are older its hard to sell that.
no one objects to bb king touring at 82 leonard cohen at 76 etta james at 72 dylan can tour forever.
is it the music or what it meant to you at a time in your life.
to me its all about the music not the stage show.the who have made some of the best rock songs ever and still can rock with the best.
may have not been the best venue for them to play but they should never stop playing.

I enjoyed it a lot, and even enjoyed watching again on u tube.

I would like to play half as well as Pete and sing half as well as Roger.

Fender probably paid to have their gear used. Having their label on stage at half time being played by a rock legend is worth ten times as much as any paid for commercial. Product placement, nothing wrong with it, just happens regularly.

Like Tiger Woods being paid to use a brand of golf club, golf ball, golf shoe, hat etc. 'cept Pete never has to go to sex rehab.

Not taking sides either way but , have you ever done a show with a bad sound man? I have, and no matter what you do to make things better, he can counter-act it and ruin the mix. And, no matter how good he is, he can't make you sound good if you suck. Even if he is competent, he can still make you sound like hammered dog waste, because he makes you sound the way HE wants you to sound, and the mix can turn out not even sounding like you. JUST A THOUGHT...................[/i]
