Maybe. Think positive. LOL

Really though, in your country dont people that go into what we call "the outback" take rifles for protection? I live in a wide open desert and do a lot of outdoors things and come across all kinds of animals and I would hate to not have at least a small rifle if I found myself on the wrong end of an animal attack. 4 legged or 2 legged

I much prefer knifes.....Big knifes, like the ones you get at a camper store, those ones that have a blade the size of your forearm.....There awesome.

my friend collect switches.... i was at his house and one came in the mail, he finally figures out how to open the bleedin thing (it has a special button thing or whatever), he tries to close it but the thing is, he didnt make it click back in, so it swings open and slices to the bone on his thumb (the cut was about an inch long), and it wouldnt stop bleeding and he had to get medical glue or whatever its called put on at the hospital..... it was kinda funny in a messed up way..... his mom was going to wrap it and he started recording a clip on his phone about the cut and showed all the blood, and his mom kept going "What the $#%& is wrong with you we need to wrap it?!?!".... "ONE MINUTE MOM!!!!" funny ish man.....

Turrican: No not really, most of them take massive knifes. They only use guns for hunting.

Floyd: thats funny, once i was holding a pocket knife when it was open, it accidently (dunno how, it just did) closed and the blade came down and cut three of my fingers down to the bone. Ouch. Not as funny as the time when i nearly chopped my mates finger off though

Be careful with your fingers. You need them to play guitar ya know :D
I worked with sheet metal for years and from time to time I would get some pretty bad cuts that left my fingertips useless for weeks while they healed.

Ive owned guns for 30 years and never harmed or threatened anybody. I love living a peaceful life and intend to keep it that way. Cigarrettes kill way more people then guns ever could and not just the people who smoke them. I dont see people inspired to stop second hand smoke. Drunk drivers kill more people (in the US) then guns but ususally only the families who have suffered a tragedy are on the front lines trying to discourage it. It isnt about gun control its people control. Why do you think that people that work for the government are the only ones pure and good enough to carry guns? Most police officers I know are in favor of concealed carry for law abiding citizens. Making drugs illegal didnt make them go away and making guns illegal doesnt make them go away either. The only people that hand them in are the ones that wouldnt have caused a problem in the first place. Sorry but as long as there is a world with guns, I dont want to be the guy that doesnt have one. You really shouldnt judge an entire population by what you hear from the BBC. I would have to say that other countries (former empires not mentioning names) did their fare share of spreading guns around the world once upon a time too. BTW, Canada has lots of guns and they are even allowed to import the cheap chinese ones that even the US cant have.

I'm not judging an entire population at all. I lived in NYC and am a quarter American. I do understand where you are comin from but I implore you to try and see things from an 'outside' P.O.V. Where I live there isn't anyone running around with guns because they ARE illegal. You take the comparrison with drugs which I fully agree with but it seems to have worked here regarding guns.

I'm sorry but the statistics speak for themselves.

(P.S. I think it's you being presumptuous that we get all our info from the BBC. We invented TV here remember, we have over 600 channels!)

Just my 2 cents,

Peace,

CC

Celtic, let me give you an example. The place here with the strictest gun control laws (guns are almost completely illegal) is Washington DC. Guess what, they have more violence and murder by criminals with firearms then anywhere else in the country. The good people have been victimized so long that they are now taking the steps to regain the rights that the rest of the country has. Chicago is very similar too. Lots of gangs and criminals and dangerous people. But honest people are unarmed. The police do very little to help because they are overwhelmed. When you see these shootings on TV they are always in places where guns are not allowed and are illegal. The psychos dont try to shoot up a police station or somewhere they know that the people are armed.

Finally I would say I have respect for you, your way of life and you country. If I am ever lucky enough to visit I would appreciate your different lifestyle and I would enjoy it just the way it is. I would never try to preach to you or anyone else that you should embrace my way of life.

As someone who lived and worked in the States for years, has a grandmother from Brooklyn who I visit often and whose family has a home in Florida we visit often also I believe I have the right to give my opinion. I'm not preaching to anyone. Statistics speak for themselves.

Statistics.

Im giving you the statistics. The areas with stricter gun laws here = more gun crimes.
You have to remember in your country only the bad guys have guns. Here the good guys have them too but you are so used to thinking of a person owning a gun being a threat that you associate it with violence. We go target shooting and put holes in paper out to 500 meters into a 3 inch pattern. That takes practice, tweaking your equipment just right and control. Nobody is getting hurt or threatened and it isnt a violent act in any way.

BTW, I didnt mean to imply that you were preaching. Just saying people have different perspectives on things. Arizona is nothing like Brooklyn or Florida.

I'm not saying it is. I'm just saying, no guns = no gun crime. Just as empty pizza box = no pizza.

My opinion is my opinion dude. Thats all it is. You are very presumptuous regarding my way of thinking. If you ACTUALLY read my posts you will see I agree with you on many things. You need to climb down off you high horse, chill out and shake a mans hand IMO and stop claiming to know how and what people think.

Sorry if I came off like that I really didnt mean to. I would gladly shake your hand or buy you a beer or beverage of your choice. Sometimes conversations dont come across the same with text only.

I totally agree with that too. Text can be read in many ways, annoyingly so considering thats a huge part of our communication. Jeez, I think my girlfriend misreads every text I send her!! lol Peace bro. We cool.

No need to thank me bro. Your opinion and views are every bit as valid as mine, if not more so cos you live there permanently. Thats why some of us called for a lock cos its just one of those threads where it can end up making unecessary enemies of friends.

Although not cvilliera or anyone else who has this passion's intentions at all. I think its mega cool that they have passions outside guitar playing. Mine is collecting boxed 1980's Transformer toys. Sad, geeky and not quite as cool as guitars and guns but I love them none the less.
