PARTY ON!

My sainted mother told me two things in my youth that have served me well..........................

1. You can't polish a turd.

and

2. NEVER take a knife or club to a gunfight.

I was a police officer for 30 years and believe in the right to bear arms. I still do a lot of shooting, often with friends in the wilderness. Not only are firearms good for self defense, but also a very fun hobby.

You right there Syeklops, its fun to get together at the range. In responsible law abiding hands there is no better defense. The problem is the politicians seem to only want the the criminals to carry them around by passing more stupid laws limiting the average citizen who would do no wrong but use it for self protection of them self your even another. Gun laws do nothing to stop criminals, its like they don't know the meaning of the word Criminal!!!!

do you know the companys that make guns for you to play cowboy, also make guns for terroists, criminals and mafia, psychos, derranged children who shoot there class mates and so on.

dont give me the "guns dont kill people, people do" line..... thats bull sxit
guns kill people every day, guns are made to kill humans. and the worlds graveyards are full of there victims.

that pic of strat with the guns is so wrong, you cant associate music with guns.

music is the world wide language of love. music can change the world, i truly believe that. guns can change the world and have changed the world for the absolute worse.

and sorry to say but i believe the usa and the attitude of the people in it are at the forefront of the problem. and always have been. the cia have equipped more criminals with guns than any other organisation in the world. com on guys wake up!

john lennon not john wayne.
martin luther king not charles heston
jfk not george bush jnr

if the world spent as much money on music programs and youth development for our kids as it does on making your guns, well we might just live in a better world.

sorry if ive offended anyone. just hate guns and evreything they stand for.

Sorry but the US has a massive problem with firearms, you guys kill yourselves and each other with guns at an alarming rate. It's not normal, it's not the reality on the street, or how the cruel hard world is - it's just how the US is, not the world. It's a problem of armed violence in your country, that very few other 'stable democracies' experience. Take a look at the rest of the world, it's not like the USA. All your personal opinions about your right to bear arms, and how fun it is to go social shooting, don't change the fact that your nationwide gun culture and 'right to bear arms' isn't actually working out for y'all.

We don`t have a gun problem here, we have a problem with criminals obtaining guns illegally. As American citizens we have the right to protect ourselves against people like that.

Guns don't stand for anything, people do. They are a tool used by people, both good and bad.

More people are killed by automobiles than guns on any given day in the U.S. Should we ban them too?
Just look how the firearms ban has worked out in your country. Home invasions have increased, robberies have increased, and your local criminal element is better armed than you are allowed to be. Your picture of the perfect world outside the borders of the U.S. is nothing more than a fantasy. There have been plenty of crimes and murders committed in those stable democracies you speak of.
Guns are not the problem. People are the problem. If you really think that Johnny home invader won't try to kill you to get what he wants just because he can't get a gun than you'll never be safe. He'll use a knife or a club or a rope to do you in because that's what he does. The gun doesn't make him do it, his mind does.

I just think this is one of those threads that needs to get locked before tempers flare.

I call for a lock too. Tempers will flare. Having had a few friends and family members shot here in Belfast I hate them but at the same time I would love to have one to protect myself and to shoot the bastards who did it and I think thats the problem right there. Its a double edged sword. U.S.A. having lived there too is a different planet to us Brits, Irish, Australians, Canadians, Icelandics, French and the rest of the people who make this forum. We live in countries where you cant have guns for self defence for the most part and as a result there is less gun crime. The proof is in the pudding.

I let my music do the grillin and the killin. But as I said before I really enjoyed hunting and for such purposes thats grand IMO.

Lock down vote from moi por favor.

Ive owned guns for 30 years and never harmed or threatened anybody. I love living a peaceful life and intend to keep it that way. Cigarrettes kill way more people then guns ever could and not just the people who smoke them. I dont see people inspired to stop second hand smoke. Drunk drivers kill more people (in the US) then guns but ususally only the families who have suffered a tragedy are on the front lines trying to discourage it. It isnt about gun control its people control. Why do you think that people that work for the government are the only ones pure and good enough to carry guns? Most police officers I know are in favor of concealed carry for law abiding citizens. Making drugs illegal didnt make them go away and making guns illegal doesnt make them go away either. The only people that hand them in are the ones that wouldnt have caused a problem in the first place. Sorry but as long as there is a world with guns, I dont want to be the guy that doesnt have one. You really shouldnt judge an entire population by what you hear from the BBC. I would have to say that other countries (former empires not mentioning names) did their fare share of spreading guns around the world once upon a time too. BTW, Canada has lots of guns and they are even allowed to import the cheap chinese ones that even the US cant have.
