Never buy a Guitar/Bass as an investment. Buy it becouse you love it, The sound, Playbility,The way it looks ect ect ect. The investment is in the joy of playing. :)

First as being guys I think it is in our DNA to collect things. I would believe just about everyone has gone through a phase from kid to adult collecting Coins, Stamps, Comics, Baseball card, and the likes at one point in there life.

Up until I was 40 I never owned more than 3 or 4 guitars at any given time and never even thought about resale value. Well I have a lot more guitars these days and when the economy crashed which was the same time I got injured I got more involved in the collecting aspect. I am not into vintage axes or relics and only buy what I enjoy playing. But there are certain guitars I have a thing for and would be a liar if I said value was not an issue. A lot of us have a few case queens that will more than likely stay that way. I also like the thrill of finding what I am looking for and getting it for a lot less than it is worth.

Hey it is the best buyers market in 25 years and if I can take advantage of it and also get something I love more than anything outside of my family and friends so be it. I dont play the market I play guitar and even if they all were worth nothing tomorrow I still would own something I love..I know guys who do nothing but buy and flip guitars and they do very well for themselves.

But as I stated thinking like this did not cross my mind till I hit 40. I put a good prtion of my life into practicing hour upon hour and nothing is greater than to have someone say you are a hell of a player and being able to make music.

As much as I'd like to think CS guitars are good investments they're not. You can check out any online store and get used CS Strats for much less than their original price. Even their special runs lose their value, just look at the CS Lenny. The only one I can think where the value really took off and stayed high was the CS SRV #1. Remember, Fender CS is the 3rd largest guitar maker in the US, they're not exactly rare or anything.
