okay, so i'm thinking about replacing the pickguards on both my strat and tele, before i do, is this a complicated process? what it mean is, is it as simple as unscrewing the old and screwing in the new or do i have to do some wiring and stuff w/electrical things? any help would be appreciated

Remove strings.
Unscrew screws.
Remove pick guard.
Put in new pick guard.
Replace strings.
Rock on!

Not quite as simple as that. Not much more complicated though either...

With the Tele you may need to unscrew the neck pickup from the scratchplate and attach to the new one.
With the Strat you'll have to unscreww ALL the pickups , the tone and volume pots, and the p'up selector switch and transfer to the new one. Definately no re-wiring involved though.

You may also need to re-drill some of the pickguard mounting holes as they don't always line up perfectly on the replacement scratchplate.

Then as Cambellgrafx said - "Rock on"!!

Also, sometimes with Teles that have a 22nd fret that might hang over the pickguard, it is sometimes necessary to remove the neck in order to remove the pickguard.

^^^^One reccomendation about pickup heights - measure them BEFORE you remove the PG, write it down so you can put the pups back the way they were.

i just replaced my mim pickguard, and put on chrome pickup covers and knobs. it looks great.

just take your time, put the screws back in the proper holes, and all should be fine.

the above advice is spot on. it took me about 2 hours to complete the project, and i'm happy with the results.
