Close enough to being a beginner that occasionally when something just clicks on a lead break I sometimes just stop, smile and enjoy the buzz (no I'm not on a stage, I'm usually in a lounge room).

I would say i could be an awful lot better. I can now tackle songs that would just floor me 4 years ago, like rory gallagher stuff ( messing with the kid, laundromat and cradle rock are my favs), and i have fun playing them, but now i want to move onto less bluesy more rock stuff.

That means moving up to 7 note scales ( as opposed to 5 note pentatonics). Looking to learn a bit of whitesnake, Vanhallen, Bonjovi(dont laugh) GnR etc. Some of it is pure cheese, but there is absolute quality guitar playing in each of those bands.

I want to learn to be good at runs, playing propper guitar parts, and not just improving as is usually done in blues.

Im at the plateau now, and it will take me a while to jump up to the next level, but thats what its all about. so i guess...

HERE I GO AGAIN ON MY OWN!!!!!!!!!!!

Haha, I'm pretty much just the opposite. :P I mean, I'll sing while I play, but mostly I just like to sing along with songs while I'm blasting them out of my computer speakers....like I am now. :P

How was that Red Bull, by the way?

Ha ha, when I got there a V energy drink can said, "riley, dont pick the red bull, you know you want me an I'm much less dearer." And the red bull said, "Dont listen to that freak, be a man and buy me, I may cost alot, but the taste of me is worth it." I ended up buying 2 V cans

 OHMYGOD!! That just made crack up SO hard!! :D

I really have to try an energy drink one of these days.... :P

I warn you. There very addictive when your my age, 13. How old are you?

I'm 14. :P SO, they probably won't be any less addictive....

I'm turning 14 in a few months. But, your age is just a number. They might get you broke, i'm serious i won $150 bucks in a compettition (this was when I was heavily into em) and I brought atleast two rockstars and 1 red bull a day. I got broke in about a week. Luckily I'm not as addicted anymore....

Cool! :D When's your birthday?

And I say the same thing! Age is just a number, yet so many things are judged upon it....

 Haha!! Wow, I would have probably blown it all on completing my library of Queen CDs, or buying some new gear. :P

20th june. But, however old or young you feel is what your age is.
I betacha you wouldv'e spent it all on energy drinks if you were heavily into em...

Sweet! Mine's October 26th. :P
Haha, I say that, too. And if that's true, then my age varies. I sometimes feel as old as dirt, then other times I feel like I'm five years old again.
....
Ah, good times....

Haha, you're probably right.

I think I hear Energy Drinks Anonymous calling.... :o

Edit: Typo

I feel like I'm 16. all my family treats me like I'm 3, like I gota present for christmas, and it was this little book that specificly said on the back, "for kids 3-5". I felt like saying, "GOD I'M NOT A KID ANYMORE, I DONT EVEN LIKE BOOKS!!!!"

Oi.
Are you an only child, or do you have older siblings? Because it would make sense for them to treat you like a kid if you had an older brother or something.

OK...From a parent prospective, we never want out kids to grow up. Right now I have a 17 y/o daughter and an 18 y/o son. Although I know they are young adults, part of me would like to still think of them as children. It is only because your parents love you. If it does bother you to still be treated like a child, sit down and talk to them. Let them know your likes and dislikes. Open communication is always the key to any good relationship. It will also show the other party that you are a mature person and not a child any more.

Just my 2 cents on the matter (and works between me and my teenagers).

Haha, yeah, I know. Mom was actually just saying to me today that she's been having flashbacks of me running around the house with my short, curly hair I had as a baby, and then she would flash forward to when my sister and I would be grown up and out of the house.

She said she's very sad whenever she has those moments. :(

And Dad and Mom always say to us that whenever we have something that's troubling us or even if we just want to talk about something with them, they're always there for us. We have a great relationship in that way with them.

They still give me kiddie menus at restaraunts because im short......

KEEP THE QUOTE GOING!!!!!!!

What kinda guitars do you have by the way?

i have a dean soltero classic, schecter A-10 warthog (i think thats the name), an ovation acoustic idk the model ill have to check but its a pre fender ovation and worth well over $1500, my old squire mini strat, a mainstreet sg signed by AC/DC, and my stang gets in in a week or so

btw, what strat is that in your pic?

Squier bullet strat :) I love it. I also have a epiphone SG and some ashton peice of crap that i dont use cause its acouatic, I prefer electric. Post photos of'em

i will when the mustang completes (well, continues actually) the family..... and i figure out how to lol.... btw, why dont you like acoustic? i prefer mine (had it for 2 years and already some very minor fret wear) and i cant write on my electrics.... EVERYTHING i learn or write starts on the ovation

Make a photobucket account, and upload em and post the link ana wala. Really? I find it hard to write songs when I'm playing my acoustic, can easily on electric. Of course, I write songs like 24/7 so

when i write i always think its good at first and it might finally be worth recording then something comes over me and i just think it sucks and dont ever want it to see the light of day..... tis quite odd really

Yer, like I'm writting a song thats inspired by aero zepplin by nirvana, when I'm writting it i think its my best piece yet, but then once i read the lyrics at a generation Y person point of view, i think, "woah, most of the miley cyrus worshippers would think this would be $@!&....".....You have to actaly study them to get them, its kinda hard to explain.

PS, nice pics brian :)

yeah and its so much the music as it is lyrics for me.... i start writing really inspired (quite often very angry) lyrics and about half way through i read and realize how cheesy it sounds :?

yer same, but I normally write angst songs rathe than angry. I just recoorded two of my own songs, vocal and guitar.....First time I've heard myself sing on audio, it sounds alright....

the quote is fun  ......... and yeah cc early aerosmith > new aerosmith.... the new stuff just seems gimmicky and cheesy

does just show a page of code or something like its an error?

Yer, but its all better now

I'm lovin' this quote.... 8)

I was about to say wheres Khashoggi gone?

 What, you think I'd just abandon our collective quote-child? Hell, no!!

im the real father.... look at the middle

*scrolls up*
AHAHAHA.
Nice. :P

Wait.
If you're the dad, and I'm the mom, then....Riley??

hes the quotes umm 'funny uncle'?

 XD
Good God, that just made me crack up....

Funny uncle it is. :P
Riley needs to just say that that's alright with him, but I don't think he's on now.... :?

damn.... next time hes on, ill ask him about that.... also ill ask for a video of his toilet flushing... they flush the wrong way in australia

also ill ask him to at least use protection..... what... i dont want the quote getting arse-td's......

Haha, sounds good to me. :P
 I find that too weird to believe. I think it should flush in the same direction despite its whereabouts on Earth.

XD  Good God....

I did alot of research on plumbing (dont ask me why). The hemispheres have nothing to do with the way your toilet flushes, i can garuntee you nearly everyone got that idea off the simpsons.
And no, our toilets dont even swirl, there washdowns, not syphonic.

Why the hell am I the uncle of this quote? I mean, I( started this topic so I should be the dad

well a 'funny uncle' is ummmm....... well you're an uncle or family friend who got really ummm.... 'close' to the quote  .... also, yes i did get that from the simpsons

I used to be pretty descent when i was doing the band thing in the 90s. Then had to focus on my career and family. Unfortunately in 2003, while loading all my stuff into my car to take it to the Mother in Laws, the car got stolen right from in front of our apt while i was inside getting more stuff... yes it was locked. Good times. Luckily they didn't get my Strat but they got my hot rod deville amp, Ovation Celebrity, and Washburn Classical. Cops found the car destroyed but i never got my stuff back. Couple of years ago my wife bought me a beautiful new Ovation and I'll soon have my Strat back to playing condition so i can hopefully rebuild my chops.

Never trust the simpsons.

Quotey almost died of starvation

oh and for some ungodly reason i cant sing while playing...... working on that though

I can strum a simple chord pattern and sing without any problem, but I haven't tried picking a more complex pattern though. I should try that tonight when I practice. :P

Singing while playings easy! I refuse to sing unless a guitars in front of me and I'm playing it.

Haha, I'm pretty much just the opposite. :P I mean, I'll sing while I play, but mostly I just like to sing along with songs while I'm blasting them out of my computer speakers....like I am now. :P
Ohyeah. 8)

"Come on baby! Dee-dah-day-day! Dee-dah-day-day! I don't have no time for no monkey business! Dee-dah-day-day! Dee-dah-day-day! I get so lonely, lonely, lonely, yeah! Got to be some good times aheaaaad!"....

I just played and sung along to rape me home demo.....Very emotional song

Haha, sweet. 8)
I'm singing along to "Heaven for Everyone" by Queen right now. I friggin' LOVE this song.... :D

I'v been playing for 40 years and my turning point was when I began to teach guitar, you find out there are students that are already pretty darn good and the last thing you can let happen is to let them become better than you. This is the driving force for my improvment.

They're a big part of what makes the difference between random noise and purposeful music. Check out Goranm's excellent Music Theory!!! thread for more info. 8)

Scales are like cheat sheets, they show you what notes sound good together, simple as that.
