How good would you consider yourself? And dont say, "I'm crap I'm the worst guitar player ever" or stuff like that, cause I know that some of us guitarist are a bit negative of our playing.

I reckon I'm not the best and not the worst. They're are days when I'm just sh*t, and they're are days when I think, "woah, how'd I get this good?'

I would call myself a beginner-intermediate player at this point in time. But I'm working on that. :D

Seriously Riley, I am pretty not good! I'm 43, didn't start playing til I was about 29, and I really struggle with it. I enjoy messing around, find it both relaxing and frustrating! I'll never be good enough to play out. My son, who is the biggest music lover in the house besides me, can usually figure out what I am trying to play-but he's the only one! I lack direction. If I could find a good teacher to point me in the right direction, I think there may be some hope for me!

Aint it just.

Now I hear all my mistakes and feel very embarrassed constantly. Especialy when people that don't play try to compliment my playing

When I finger a barre chord and I strum it very slowly to hear if I have placed my fingers om the strings just right... I usually hear something like... ring, ping, thunk, ring, thunk... or something along thise lines.

Progress comes in little tiny baby steps... or slower. But considering two months ago I knew next to nothing, I guess getting to the barre chords is some certain amount of progress. 8)

I have enough callouses that two hours of practice and dubbing around is not painful any more.

I've been at it 45 yrs and I'm still not satisfied with my playing.I've made decent money playing over the years so some people must like my playing but as I said I see lots of room for improvement. It was said by someone "You are your own worse critic."

I would say that I'm decent. I need to work on my soloing, but I can whip out a few licks here and there. I also need to work on expanding my chord "vocabulary".

And since now Mom has prohibited me from taking any more lessons with my much-loved and pretty much all-knowing guitar teacher, I'm really stuck with where I'm at in theory. I can still learn a bit from my Music Theory 2 class in high school, but there's really no more than that besides self-teaching from websites and books.

I miss my class terribly. It was the highlight of my week. I miss my instructor, I miss my classmates, and I miss the seemingly never-ending flow of new information.
We all had such fun in there.... :(

Why aren't you allowed to get lessons anymore?

Haha, thanks, Fhop!! :D And congratulations on the 6,000+ posts, by the way.

I'll try and get a vid of me playing. The actual recording isn't a problem--it's the "paranoid parents" that might be a problem. They might not want me to upload a video of myself....
I'll try my best, though.
