Hey, man, quick question. If I were to modify a Fender guitar, for example, put different pickups in or someting along those lines, would that nullify the warranty?

It helped a litlle bit, but what if I made alterations to my guitar through the authorized Fender dealer that I bought the guitar from?

I had to actually do some research on this one just to make sure I wasn't leading you astray.

The ever-helpful Jeff K. in customer service says: "Changing pickups will not void your warranty. However, if parts are damaged upon installation/removal, we will no longer warrant those parts. For example, if you’re putting in a set of pickups, and you use too hot of solder, or damage the coil, we will not warrant that pickup. The Fender warranty specifically covers defects in manufacturing. We always recommend bringing the guitar to an authorized tech for any modifications. "

Hope this helps!

I always wondered about making any changes in regards to Fender instruments. That is very clear and useful information. :D

^ I aswell, as I like to do all my own work myself. I had always assumed that since I did my own work that it would void the warranty. Nice to know that it's only voided if I screw something up, and it's only the part in question...which makes sense.

Thanks, man.

Ya know I have to comment on Fender, Brad and this forum in general; it is rare that you get a response as quickly as you do here from someone who actually works for the company. Every time someone has posted a question to Fender directly - at least every time I've visited these forums- they get an answer. And not in days, but usually hours - that's impressive. Kudos to Fender and Brad. You all rock.
